Steve Wynn is now out of the picture. Who is actually running the Wynn hotels and corporation?
From Steve Wynn’s resignation on February 6, 2018, until the end of last year, Wynn Resorts was run by CEO Matt Maddox, who retired in late 2021, having largely succeeded in containing the damage from the Steve Wynn sex scandal and the navigating the treacherous waters of opening of Encore Boston Harbor.
He was succeeded at the start of this year by former Chief Financial Officer Craig Billings. Billings also sits on the Wynn Board of Directors, which is chaired by former Harrah’s Entertainment boss Philip Satre, a hugely respected personage in the gambling industry.
The Board has also been diversified from the Steve Wynn days with the addition former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers, ex-Southern Nevada water czar Pat Mulroy, and Wendy Webb, founder of Kestrel Corporate Advisors, an advisory-services firm that counsels organizations on strategic business issues, including growth initiatives, digital marketing, board governance, and investor relations.
The new CFO is Dean Lawrence, a hospitality-industry veteran.
The Wynn Las Vegas and Encore hotels are the province of Brian Gullbrants, who earned his job by successfully opening Encore Boston Harbor, which is now run by Jenny Holaday, who held executive positions in Harrah's (now Caesars) Entertainment and Mandalay Resort Group (now MGM Resorts).
The Macau portfolio is the responsibility of Ian Coughlan, who is getting to be an old hand at dealing with China, having held the position since 2016.
All of the executives mentioned above have put in a number of years with Wynn Resorts, which has one of the best — and most stable — C suites in Big Gaming, we can assure you.
