Question of the Day - 17 May 2025

Q:

After glowing reviews from the Super Bowl, how did Las Vegas fare for WrestleMania? What did the media think? What was the economic impact to the city? And … will we get another Wrestlemania anytime soon?

A:

In terms of economic impact, it wasn't what we'd call modest.

The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority tells us, “While we haven’t received a full report yet, we can share that the pre-event estimated economic impact was $215 million … noting that this was a first-time event, so it was a conservative estimate.” We believe that number, especially as it doesn’t have the suspiciously inflated-sounding nature associated with Formula One estimates.

It was good for WWE, too. According to published reports, their on-site merchandise sales spiked 45 percent and ecommerce traffic jumped 86 percent. Not only did WWE bring in more than 50,000 attendees, but Wrestlemania 41, which was held at Allegiant Stadium and around town the third weekend in April, was described as the highest-grossing event in WrestleMania history.

WWE said media coverage has been “overwhelmingly positive thus far.” They still seem to be in the process of culling press clips. We’ve certainly not heard any negative feedback thus far, same as the Super Bowl and quite unlike Formula One weekend.

As for Wrestlemania returning to Las Vegas, the LVCVA could only say that it hopes for one. The next one won’t be far from a casino, however. It’s being held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in 2026 -- about a mile from Caesars New Orleans.

In 2027, it looks like Nashville, assuming the Tennessee Titans' New Nissan Stadium is completed on time in Feburary of that year. In 2028, Indianapolis looks to be the venue, though that hasn't been confirmed. London in the UK has also been bandied about as a possible location.

Based on ticket and merchandise sales from the Las Vegas show, it’s a safe bet that this event will find its way back to Sin City, though probably not until 2029 at the earliest.
