Question of the Day - 05 August 2018

Q:

While visiting the “Welcome to Las Vegas sign” last week I noticed the logo for YESCO was at the bottom. Was that added recently or am I horrible at paying attention to detail? How much did YESCO pay to add their logo to our landmark?

A:

It didn’t cost a penny. Young Electronic Sign Co. (YESCO) owns the sign.

YESCO Vice President for Business Development, Rick Juleen Jr., tells us, “The first YESCO logo appeared in 1998 and has been updated twice since then. The current YESCO logo was applied in 2016.” You can see the logo in the photo at the bottom of the sign.

Juleen adds, “Everyone here at YESCO is very proud our affiliation with the sign and the amazing city it represents.”

So are we.

    Great sign
Amazingly this historic sign wasn’t trademarked which most would think was a huge mistake, but it’s so iconic and widely copied everyone has seen some version of it and allowed so many companies to make a souvenir of it in every tourist shop in town.
