This restaurant was reviewed in the February 2004 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. Firefly serves tapas, which are Spanish appetizers. For fans of tapas, along with the often-exotic ingredients and preparations, the whole culinary culture is appealing. Rather than ordering one appetizer before an entree, with tapas you make appetizers the entire meal. The Firefly menu has more than 50 such selections, varying in price from $3 to $10. Most are in the $6 range, so you can try several for what you’d ordinarily spend on dinner. For example, our party of two had (in the order that we recommend them for taste) gazpacho ($3), steak tartare ($6), dates stuffed with walnuts ($4), sauteed mushrooms ($4), artichoke on toast ($3), clams with chorizo ($9), and red snapper ceviche ($6). It’s fun. It’s even more fun if you accompany the food with a nice Riojo (Spanish red wine)—try the Lorinon for $39. Firefly is located east of the Strip on Paradise Rd. about two miles south of the Las Vegas Hilton. It's open 5 pm till late nightly.
