LVA Review

This restaurant was reviewed in the March 2010 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. In Local Corner we like to lead you to places you wouldn’t ordinarily find on your own and it’s a good bet that’s the case with this pick. Gina’s Bistro is located way up on the west side of town, about seven miles from the Strip (just north of Flamingo). You’ll notice a real local’s feel here, as many of the customers are regulars from the area who come back again and again. Gina hails from Rome and her cooking is authentic Italian. The sauces are noticeably lighter and busting out with the flavor of fresh ingredients freshly cooked—Gina’s marinara just plain rocks. Most meals come in under $15 and you’ll probably have enough to take out, especially if you start with one of the good appetizers, like the carpaccio, which rates as one of our favorites (and we try a lot of them) for $12.95. For a special treat, ask for the crab ravioli (in a pink sauce) which isn’t on the menu, but is usually available for $18.95. Note that there’s one oddity here: Gina’s serves only wine—no beer or no hard liquor. Gina’s Bistro is open for dinner every day except Monday, starting at 4 pm.
