Bank Atcharawan, formerly the sommelier at Lotus of Siam, opened Lamaii Thai restaurant in Chinatown in early 2019. This cuisine is called a modern take on classic Thai, with small plates such as shrimp cakes, steak tartare, chicken wings, fried taro roll, and deep-fried pork belly ($8-$22), soups including tom kha kai ($11), and main course like curry, duck, prawns, salmon, snapper, pork, noodles, and a 12-ounce Angus rib eye ($12-$25).

Atchawaran also runs Patio Desserts and Drinks a couple miles south, so the desserts here are worth trying: coconut cake, mango and sticky rice, and egg-yolk ice cream ($5-$9).

    Did not disappoint
Having previously dined at both Chada Thai and Chada Street, we arrived on a Tuesday evening with high expectations and our dinner did not disappoint. The decor and overall atmosphere are beautiful. We started by sharing a dish, the name escapes me and it is not listed in the online menu, but it included chopped shrimp with plumb sauce on??? . For entrees, my wife and I shared mun pu fried rice (rice stir fried in crab fat with jumbo lump crab) and tom yum hang (salmon with bok choy and tom yum sauce) that were outrageously delicious. We found pricing to be reasonable and the overall quality high so a return will be made ASAP.
