Mizumi offers a teppanyaki room, a robatayaki bar, a sushi bar, and lush gardens.

This restaurant was reviewed in the December 2005 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. Okada is the world-class Japanese restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas, named after Steve Wynn’s business partner, Kazuu Okada. As such, it’s the centerpiece of the Wynn restaurant line-up—a place where you can hit the bar for sushi or settle in for an authentic Japanese dinner in a beautiful room that looks out at the mountain and lagoon with its waterfall. The food is extraordinary, both in taste and presentation, and there are many interesting choices: Japanese oysters, ceviches, Kobe carpaccio, foie gras with barbecued eel, and the provocatively named “Bad Hair Day of Gulf Shrimp.” There’s also a selection of grilled marinated skewers—prepared on the robatayaki grill featuring white Japanese charcoal (the only one of its kind outside of Japan)—which hold crab, squid, sea bass, and various meats and vegetables. There are 20 different skewers running from $5 to $12. Most sushi selections are $6 to $8 for two-piece orders, though several pricier specialties are available. Entrees run the gamut from a small vegetable tempura for $14 to a $170 caviar tasting. If you have any room for dessert, the passion-fruit or mixed-berries sorbets ($12) are outstanding. If you don’t feel like doing the whole fancy-dinner thing, the entire menu is available from the bar. Bottom line, despite a lot of hype that might lead you to put this restaurant in the inaccessible category (see LETTERS & TIPS), it’s anything but, and potentially the city’s best option for high-end Japanese cuisine.
