LVA Review

This restaurant was reviewed in the January 2013 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. The Palms is running a daily prix-fixe menu for $65 in N9NE, served nightly from 5 to 7 pm. We’ve always been fans of N9NE, but these types of offers in high-end restaurants rarely live up to billing. That’s anything but the case here. While it’s described as three courses, that isn’t really accurate, since you get a starter, a small entrée, a main-course entrée, and a dessert, plus the chef’s amuse bouche (a small appetizer at the start of the meal). They don’t scrimp on portions. For example, since its opening, two starter dishes that N9NE has been known for are French onion soup and the garbage salad. Don’t fret over choosing—you get both. The small entrée is a choice of sea bass or salmon that come in portions big enough to be the main entrée. The main course is a choice of organic chicken or prime rib eye. Both are excellent and served with big portions of green beans and parmesan mashed potatoes. For dessert, choose between strawberry shortcake or chocolate banana-cream pie. As if the meal wasn’t enough to make it a bargain, the deal comes with unlimited wine pairings. Switch back and forth if you like between chardonnay and cabernet and refill as often as you want throughout dinner (they’re supposed to cut it off when dessert is served). Not only do you get to taste the food, but by 7 pm the restaurant is heating up, allowing you to experience what’s still one of Las Vegas’ hippest dining rooms. There’s a similar deal for $55 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in NOVE.
