A popular local family-owned Italian bistro, with casual and and more formal dining areas, plus a bar featuring an acclaimed cocktail program. House specialties include their "Crazy Alfredo," signature salad, and rustic-style pizzas, while the chicken parm. sandwich with homemade potato chips is an LVA recommendation for lunch. Sometimes features live entertainment in the evening; open for dinner only Sat./Sun.

This restaurant was reviewed in the February 2003 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. Located on Flamingo Rd. about a mile west of the Palms, Nora’s is one of those little Italian joints you don’t hear much about, but people in the know are there. During our visit, for example, former Nevada U.S. Senator Richard Bryan was dining at a corner table. Nora’s is open for lunch and dinner with a full Italian menu, including subs, soups, and pizza (all available for takeout). It’s bargain priced, with many pasta dishes going for just $7.50. Meals are a la carte, but a side salad is only $2.50. It’s good and it’s cheap. But the big play at Nora’s is to dine late on a Friday or Saturday night. At 10 pm on weekends, a neat little house band takes the floor. It’s nice light fare, nothing noteworthy, until the singer unleashes with some primo opera that will blow you away. Is he a tenor? Maybe not, but he’s at least a nine. The kitchen officially closes at 10, but they keep serving until about midnight. Call to confirm when you can arrive to eat and catch the show. LC Updates: The Lighthouse, a recommendation for all-night seafood (LVA 12/02), has scaled back its ambition and now serves only until 10 pm (the chowder’s still first-rate). The late-night specials we’ve recently touted at Diamond China (LVA 11/02) have been discontinued (still a great place). You can get pierogi ($8.95) and stuffed cabbage roll ($9.95) dinners to go at the Polonez Polish restaurant (LVA 6/02). There’s also a second Polish deli (not a restaurant) in town at 5900 W. Charleston, 702/259-2008.
