LVA Review

This restaurant was reviewed in the September 2008 LVA; some of the information contained in the review may no longer be accurate. At last, a Korean restaurant we can get behind. We got the heads-up on Tofu Hut from a Korean friend who called it the best in town. The first good sign was that the menus aren’t those shiny things that almost every Korean barbecue now uses, and things got better from there. Hold off eating here until you’re hungry and don’t order more than one main dish per person (or get one to split), because you’re in for a food barrage. First, you get a small bowl of salad. Then come eight or nine of the little appetizer bowls (banchan)—kimchi, radish, spinach, bean sprouts, mashed potatoes, pancake, cucumber; they change daily. Next (unless you order soup) comes a bowl of steaming tofu soup. Don’t be surprised if you’re full before you get to the main course. Lunch specials are $7.40 for tofu soups or $14-$15 for various barbecue plates. Or try the sashimi bibimbap for just $9.95. Dinner offers all the classic table barbecues, priced from $16 to $20. Located across from the Chinatown Plaza, it’s another good late-night place, open till 2 am daily.
