LVA Review

This restaurant was reviewed in the March 2001 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate. Here’s a deal we can sincerely recommend to all 13,000 LVA subscribers. We’ve been raving about the theoretical value of the Pocketbook of Values coupon for a 50%-off-everything meal in the Yukon Grille at Arizona Charlie’s East, and now we can give you the practical reality: This is a flat-out great dinner play. For starters, the Yukon Grille is a classic value-gourmet restaurant, which means the atmosphere and food meet the standards you’d find in top-shelf eateries, only without the high prices. Appetizers are $6-$7, salads and soups $3-$5, pastas $11-$15, fish and chicken $13-$15, steaks and lamb chops $14-$22, and the big bangers, such as crab legs and lobster, $25-$35. That’s before the coupon. Apply the 50% discount and you’re getting filets for $7 and king crab legs for $12.50-you get the idea. Two of us tore into ‘em, ordering scampi and fried artichoke appetizers, surf & turf and crab leg entrees, a side of sauteed mushrooms, and a couple glasses of wine. The damage (after coupon) was $48.56, including tax. The food is excellent overall, especially the appetizers, soups, and salads. Our entrees were slightly salty, but the portions were huge-the steaks seem to be the better play. Wines, which aren’t discounted by the coupon, run $15 to $29, and about $4 by the glass. Service and ambience are superb. By all means, give this one a try.
