Description
This guide is a handy video poker tool, a booklet of pay schedules for the most popular VP games that details the return for each game, designed to make finding profitable video poker games in any casino easy for anyone. The booklet is just 3.5 inches tall and 7 inches long, similar in size to a checkbook, and is spiral bound so it can be opened to any page and folded over while scouting for a particular game. It’s made with heavy paper and laminated covers for durability.
The guide contains 184 pay schedules for 37 different games, and great care was taken to find the most popular pay schedules across the country, so that this tool is not just for use in Nevada, but also for popular East Coast and Southern games as well.
The guide also contains a few pages of instructions on how to read the charts, a table of contents, and an alphabetical listing of games. As a quick explanation, you can see that the payouts are listed for the one-coin payoff, except as noted for specific payoffs requiring a fifth coin. The “paying pair” is usually jacks or better, but differences are noted wherever they occur, such as for the game of Pick ‘Em.
There’s also a volatility rating, which is a rough measure of what kind of ups and downs you can expect while playing, rated from one to four “$.” The return for each schedule is provided, as well as the return for the Multi-Strike and Super Times Pay versions of those games. Finally, an approximate royal progressive breakeven point is listed for both quarter and dollar plays.
About The Authors
| At first glance, Jean Scott appears to be what she is—your average 60-something retired English teacher from the Midwest. In her secret life, though, she’s the most successful casino low roller in the country. Dubbed the “Queen of Comps” by CBS’ “48 Hours,” by using slot clubs, taking advantage of promotions and contests, gambling with coupons, and exploiting everything in the casino world that’s even remotely vulnerable, Scott has developed a technique for getting everything she wants from the casinos from Las Vegas to Atlantic City. She has been featured on “Dateline,” “Hard Copy,” “To Tell the Truth,” numerous Travel and Discovery channel documentaries, and “48 Hours.” Jean Scott is also the author of The Frugal Gambler Casino Guide, The Frugal Gambler and More Frugal Gambling, Frugal Video Poker, and Tax Help for Gamblers.
Viktor Nacht is an up-and-coming gambling authority and publisher whose wide range of expertise has generated an impressive variety of achievements. After spending 10 years in the Midwest as a professional blackjack player and freelance Webmaster for major publishing houses, including Playboy Enterprises, Viktor moved to Las Vegas to play blackjack and video poker, purchased RGE Publishing from the legendary Arnold Snyder, and established several advantage-play websites. |

In your Frugal Video Poker Scouting Guide do you have a pay table for Ultimate X Video Poker with the mutiplier?
Anthony Curtis –
The Scouting Guide doesn’t cover Ultimate X specifically. However, Ultimate X is based on the standard video poker games, so the paytable comparisons apply.
