Featuring a three-course dinner (without utensils) and plenty of action, this show is like a World Wrestling match: phony but fun. The jousting, in the 900-seat theater-in-the-round arena, is spectacular.

LVA Review

(This show was reviewed in the July 1999 LVA; some of the information contained in this review may no longer be accurate.)

The retooled dinner show at Excalibur, Tournament of Kings, is essentially the same show that it was as King Arthur's Tournament, which played Excalibur from opening day till a few months ago. Then, the show was "revamped" and the theater renovated to the tune of more than a million bucks. The only change is a slight plot difference. Instead of knights cavorting on horseback for the princess' hand, the kings of Europe gather for a medieval competition in honor of Arthur's son Christopher's princehood (same quotient of jousting and fighting). The new version, at $39.08, is almost $10 more expensive than the old version. If you saw King Arthur's Tournament, you don't need to see Tournament of Kings for $10 more.

That said, this show remains one of Las Vegas' best for children. If you go, here's a tip. The big meal (Cornish hen, twice-baked potato, broccoli, dinner roll, and dessert turnover) is a little tough to finish, especially without utensils. You might consider carrying in some aluminum foil and a bag to take out the leftover bird.
