  1. Just wanted to share with you some insight my friends and I had while using the LVA members reward book. At the Emeral Island Grille we used the 2 for 1 entree coupon for our meal. The cashier told us she could only deduct $7.50 off one entree as instructed by management. Therefore, we were required to pay full price for one meal and with the LVA members reward coupon we received $7.50 off the second meal.

At the Rio Hotel and Casino, the LVA members reward coupon states if you earn 200 slot points, you’ll receive $25 in free-play. I did that on June 4th and was awarded my free-play. Prior to activating the free-play onto a machine you first have to feed that machine your own money. This way the free-play replenishes whatever bet you initially made. As an example, I put $5 into a quarter video poker machine. I then activated my free-play on this machine. My initial bet of $1.25 lost and the free-play replenished my initial bet with $1.25 making me whole again at $5. The free-play showed I now had $23.75 remaining. All is good. On my next hand I made a pair of Jacks and received $1.25. I’m whole again at $5. This is where it got strange. I believe the free-play should have also added $1.25 to my account thereby giving me a total of $6.25. It did not and my free-play amount dropped to $22.50 while my account remained at $5. As I continued to play, I realized that the free-play only added to your account when you loss. If you won, it did not add to your account but stilled dropped $1.25 from your remaining free-play. Bottom line is you lost you got your money back but if you win you lose the free-play.

Maybe it’s something you could explore and find out if the Emeral Island Grille was a miscommunication and if the Rio does free-play differently from all other casinos. Thx

  2. There’s no stipulated limit on the Emerald Island offer and we’ve not been informed that anything has changed, so there’s something wrong there. Something is also off in the Rio situation. We’ll contact both for an explanation.

  3. Following is the Emerald Island response from head guy Tim Brooks. They are a class casino. We’ve forwarded your contact. Waiting on Rio.

This was an error on our part. We will get this corrected in house.

I would also like to invite this guest back to dine on us at their convenience.

  4. The note below is from the VP of Casino Ops at the Rio. It’s possible that your machine/reader was malfunctioning or that you read it wrong, but the system is set up to disperse the FP on every play.

    From Rio:
“I can confirm that this is incorrect. I just tested it again, just to be 100% sure. Our freeplay programming is identical to MGM Resorts with what is known as seeded freeplay.”
