Best Downtown Steakhouse

I think my favorite downtown steakhouse is Oscar's these days; very solid food, cool, nostalgic atmosphere.  Andiamo is also very good, so is Vic and Anthony's, although I'm not a GN fan.  Haven't been to Barry's; the chef (maybe chef/owner?) had N9ne at Palms years ago and I wasn't at all impressed with that.  Top of Binions is pretty good, nice view and fairly good steaks, although I think Oscar's and the others are better.  Can't beat the MRB coupon, though, and we always have tons of comp dollars from 4Q.  All just my opinion, of course.

Oh, and it's sort of downtown and sort of steak, but the prime rib at Jerry's Nugget is really good.

now the key question of the day: Which is the best steak house by price/value? Is there a place that really has it all?

Well, that's a really subjective question. Obviously, what's valuable to one person might not matter to another--the quality of the food, the ambiance, the presentation, the service, the quantity, the side dishes and whether they come with the meal, etc. etc. etc. If you look at price points alone, all the downtown goomay joints are roughly the same, with Andiamo being (as I recall), the most expensive, but not by much.

Those of us who mourn the demise of Old Vegas will recall that the El Cortez used to offer by far, BY FAR, the best steak house in town (I think it was "Roberta's"?), with the best food, the best service, and the best prices. No more. Sob sob.

However (and I sound like a broken record here, I know), I get my steak dinner fix when I'm in town on Saturday night (Steak Night) at Emerald Island in Henderson, where I can get a New York, porterhouse, or ribeye, vegetable and potato, soup or salad, and dessert for $26.99. And the quality is as good as the $100 steakhouses.

I'm with you on the Henderson part. I think, however, the ambiente at the Rainbow café is slightly better but then sometimes the wait is longer. I've had that meal many times , with or without the free 15 bucks-per-week, don't matter. With all those points on the card that becomes insignificant.

I do remember the Steak House at the E-C. It was legendary. With the slim and distant waiter who never smiled it made it even better. I used to have 2-for-1 coupons from either ACG or LVA don't remember.

Another great steak house was the Fuego inside the Fiesta in Henderson. That was also high value and fantastic ambiente.

However, there must be a steak house that insiders frequent. Good food, good seating, airconditioning and good service and not too much of a wait. Any information to spare?

Fuego was terrific. It's gone, along with the entire casino. You drive by, you see that only the parking garage is still standing. Used to be my favorite destination, especially before Stations ate it, when it was called the Reserve.

My two nominees for the classic steak house experience would be the small place tucked away on the second floor of the Fremont (don't remember the name), and the Circus Circus steak steak house house. Do either of those still exist? 

Cornerstone at the Gold Coast comes to mind. The prices were great for the excellent food and service, and they had really good happy hour specials. Haven't been there in many moons.
