Wizard of Oz at Sphere

My wife and I went for her birthday.  I was skeptical for the price($144 each), but it was pretty neat.  We sat in section 207, row 15. Great seats. Took Lyft to get there. They dropped us right by the entrance.  Lobby had many displays and merch vendors. There's concessions on lobby and 2nd levels with a wide variety of options.  We bought 2 beers for about $40 total for 24 Oz cans. The movie was great with the extra effects wind, vibration etc. I really enjoyed the tech of the experience.  I only went because my wife is a big Wizard of Oz fan, but I was glad we went.  It exceeded my expectations.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but Jesus! $144 for a ticket? $20 beers?

Though I suppose that since this must have taken you a couple of hours at least, and the average Vegas visitor bleeds about $200 an hour, you might have saved money. But still...wow.

Parenthetically, I wonder, given the presence of all those drink and snack vendors, do they let you bring in your own refreshments or do they stop you and beat you unconscious if you have a bottle of water, like they do at the ballpark?

Anyway, thanks for the report. As you imply, there will be lots of people out there who feel that it's worth the price. And five minutes on the Strip will convince you that a $20:beer is normal.

You are an idiot.

Harsh. But true.

I agree about the price of tickets and these were "cheap" ones as we went at 11 am Sunday. Also, this was for my wife's birthday so I, got her what she wanted. The beer price is outrageous but we only stay downtown and gamble there, so this was a one time deal. I read you can bring in an empty bottle to fill in the fountains but did not try it. This place is really amazing though. If there's a band you like, I bet a concert there would be amazing.

Glad to hear you and your wife had a great time, Michael.

Dan regularly violates that rule. He's an angry dude with no filter, and his political stances probably contribute to that.

That said, I'm never bothered when an idiot calls me an idiot. After all, how does an insane person regard a sane person? Right. He thinks the sane person is insane.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

That's nice, that you had an opportunity to give her a unique gift. Happy wife,...

I too wonder if there's a band that would be enhanced by the Sphere's special effects. The logistics and copyright/legal hurdles would be monumental, and I think it would have to be an iconic band that's been around forever, like the Eagles or Bruce Springsteen. Of course, they would charge you a sack of gold coins to get in, and that beer would be $50.

Dan, do you have issues? What medications are you on...or off?
