Boyd tier points?

Brent, that's interesting about starting the next year at 500 points; is that documented somewhere?  Think that applies to all Boyd properties?

If the earn rate is still what it used to be, it would be very hard for us to make Sapphire (probably about $75K coin-in), but if you only need 250 points per year to maintain, that's starting to look like a possibility.  Even if they're bastards.

If it takes $200 coin-in at NSUD or $100 at 9/6 to earn a tier credit, then essentially, you have to lose $375 to get to Sapphire but "only" $125 in a year to keep it. $75K coin-in on a quarter machine is 75 hours of play, for which I earn nothing. Then I have to play 25 more hours just to avoid dropping back to nothing status.

That's why I've flipped them the Boyd. Life is too short.

I asked my Boyd contact today about Carryover Tier Credits. She said that we get 100% (not 50%) of the overage carried-over up to the maximum for that level of 500. For example if we earn 850 Tier Credits in a year, 100 carries over.

I thought that if you're already Sapphire, you only need 250 in a year to stay there. So if you earn 850, shouldn't 600, not 100, carry over? Or are 500 of those 600 "extra" points wasted?

Year One - A new or returning player will have to earn 750 Tier Credits to get Sapphire for the rest of that year (Year One) and all the next year (Year Two).

Year Two - Earn 750 Tier Credits to get Sapphire through the next year (Year Three). (You already have Sapphire for Year Two because you earned it in Year One.)

If you earn more than 750 Tier Credits in any year, the overage carries over to the next year when you will only have to earn 750 minus the carryover.

Still sounds like a hell of a lot of coin-in to just begin to get benefits.

1) You will only need 250 Tier Credits in a year only if you have a carryover of 500 Tier Credits from the prior year.

2) You can't have a carryover of 600 Tier Credits because 500 is the maximum for the Sapphire level.

3) To continue being at the Sapphire level, you must have 750 Tier credits each year either from the (500 max) carryover or ones you earned each calendar year.

4) My last post above from April 18 6:49 pm is all the information I have.

That's my reaction. Theirs is the only players' club I've ever seen where you earn NOTHING initially, and to add insult to injury, the initial hurdle is huge.

I wonder how many players they lost when they started that back in 2018. What a contrast to other players' clubs where you get something for signing up and you start earning points immediately.

Imagine: Joey and Jilly Tourist visit the Orleans, they join the players' club, they play slots hot and heavy for several hours and lose about $500 each. They say, too bad, but at least we must have earned some comps. Then they find out they haven't earned a single players' club point. Womp womp.

I am guessing that joey and Jilly will still get free rooms with no resort fees.  That is one of the perks of boyd.

Brent is correct, when we quit Boyd back in 2018 we continued to get reasonably generous room offers for a while.  Still, every other casino's players club will give you something, so why bother?  Our primary casino for about 12 years was MSS, it's been a ghost town since the players club change (and even more so since they pulled the good VP from the Boar's Head bar).
