So, $2000 coin-in on NSUD gets you $5. That's a bonus of 0.25%!!! Be still my heart! That boosts your return to 99.98%, with your play not earning any points if you're only Ruby Booby, which you will be if you're a new member.

Not sure what you mean by "earning all four levels," but the $50 max bonus is that same 0.25%. And you have to dump in two grand to get that first $5. Pretty feeble. God forfend they would just give you $5 free play for signing up.

Penn Play has tightened up my offers for both Ameristar Black Hawk and M Resort. My wife and I will be going to the Stone Temple Pilots show at the M in July, now, all of a sudden, neither one of us has fully comped rooms for that time frame. To stay there is around $400 with my Preferred tier level.

The best rate I can get at Rio is the LVA discount, which was in the $300 range. So I logged on to Boyd Rewards, we haven't played at a Boyd property since shortly after Covid. Lo and behold! I had comped rooms, but had to pay the resort fee, $75 for the stay. I think we'll play on that corner almost exclusively and see what kind of offers we can get from Rio and Gold Coast afterwards.

On a side note, I'm thinking of mixing in a bit of slot play to see if that helps with offers. I always play only video poker and Blackjack when I gamble.

It is nice to have options.  Good for you on checking Boyd.  I am surpised they are chagring a resort fee , but maybe that will be dropped.

That MIGHT be the case, if you're playing at a property where the EV of each machine is calculated, rather than those that are less sophisticated and consider VP and slot play to be equivalent. I know that Give You the Boyd pioneered that indivdual machine EV approach, to the extent that they even differentiated VP games. They would somewhat cheat you by awarding tier/club points based on the best game on a given machine--even if you were playing some other game on that machine.

I remember talking with Jean Scott about the strategy you mention. Her comps were drying up, so she decided to mix in a little slot play on each trip. She reported a loosening of the casino sphincter and a modest increase in offers. I tried the same thing and got a similar result; however, what I received wasn't worth what I lost on the slots. In general, the casinos have it calculated so that it's NEVER worthwhile to play slots.

Strange that Boyd had anything left over for you after five years of staying away. Rio has been generous with bounceback offers. You can also try the Palms (shit VP) and see if getting on their radar is worthwhile. Being on that corner gives you easy access to three halfway decent casinos, which is nice, because you don't have to drive around or cope with transportation costs and issues.

The Palms does have some decent VP - you just have to look for it.

Yes it does..many over 99% payback at multiple denoms.

Free rooms are a little tough at the Palms, but they are pretty generous with the free play and 2 for 1 buffets.  Even Throw in a 10 dollar food credit once in awhirle

Based on our experience there, new signups get room teaser offers within a couple months for $1500 + coin-in on slots and about $6000 coin-in on VP. New signups also get free buffet offers for a relatuvely a small level of play / coin-in. Teasers, again. Regular established players can earn two free buffets if interested for $500 coin in on slots a

After we observed these rewards, we continued to return with consistent free room offers though at our play levels we had to pay resort fees ( which were comped off at the backend once the visit was over). So comparatively they are not player unfriendly at the Palms..thus far. They changed mgmt not too long ago so we'll see if it lasts. Who knows.

I don't consider 8/5 BP to be "decent" at 99.17%, and it's one of the most boring VP games to boot.
