Name the song the line is from Part II

Good Morning All,

This may not have been as memorable to others as I thought. But it was popular twice. It was written in 1959 by two members of the Crickets (Buddy Holly’s band).
In 1961, Bobby Vee recorded it. His version went to #4 on the UK singles chart, but only to #61 on Billboard Hot 100. Then in 1980, Leo Sayer’s version spent five weeks at # 2 on Billboard Hot 100.

Recap:

Don't you know I need you so
Oh, tell me please
I gotta know.

Here are some more lines:

Whoa whoa, yea yea
I love you ____ ____ _ ___ ___
I'll love you twice as much tomorrow
Oh, love you ____ ____ _ ___ ___

Good morning -

I believe that the Leo Sayer version was the biggest hit - More Than I Can Say

It was the first song by a female singer to chart #1 on both Country and Pop Charts

Tonyrob

"Harper Valley PTA," by Jeannie C. Riley.

New lyrics --

"I think it's only fair that I should let you know
what you should know"

OK - you threw me on that one - I believe that the word "think" is an error.

Harry Nilson did my favourite version, but it was also done by Bowie, U2, Carey - and many more.

Song is "Without You"

OK - I have trouble believing that this song charted anywhere - but it did! Number 1 in the USA (for 1 week only)

while my heart is broke, my tears are cried for you

Tonyrob
Yeah, I got the line slightly wrong. It should be "And now it's only fair that I should let you know." I don't, however, think the error was bad enough to make it impossible to get the song. After all, you got it, didn't you? Don't be so picky, lol.

Nah - didn't stop me getting the song - but I have the NilSSon (see - I made an error as well )
version committed to memory - so I stumbled when I went through the song in my head.
BTW - saw Nilsson last year - he's playing small venues now - it's like sitting down at home with him - great storyteller - if you get the chance I highly recommend that you check him out.

Clue time - how this person ever became a star is totally beyond me!

Tonyrob

He became a star because he earned it. That and Star is short for Starkey. “Photograph” is the name of the song and I like it a lot.

Next one:

With every mistake we must surely be learning
Yes, he earned it! Don't make fun of Ringo.
