Oops. Tony beat me to it.

Welcome back Tony! How was the wilderness?

Thanks. Far too much rain - so we came back early

Tony, I believe yours is Roxanne, by the Police.

OK, from 1982:

If you believe it, take my hand and I'll take your heart

Can't recall the name of the song ( just slightly outside my zone) but I believe that the band was Huey Lewis and the News.

Huey Lewis and The News is correct.

Let's try more lyrics, including background singers (in parentheses), and the five word title, to see if anyone can recall the song:

Now the feeling is beginning to grow
And the meaning is something you only know
If you believe it, take my hand and I'll take your heart

Now I wonder (wonder), where does true love begin
I'm going under (under), so I'm lettin' you in
My woman (I don't wanna be lonely baby, please tell me)
I wanna love you all over

__ ___ _______ __ ____?

Hi All,

Gee I almost missed this one. It’s “Do you believe in love?”

A sad, but soulful one from 1986:

Chance for me to escape from all I've known

It’s still there? Okay, I’ll give a few hints.

From Wikipedia:

The group was a British soul band that sold more than 50 million albums over a 25-year career. Their style drew influences from blue-eyed soul, new romantic, rock, reggae and jazz.

The song was a smash success for the group and quickly rose to the top of charts across the world. It remains their most successful single, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 in the U.K.

More lines:

Wasted all those years
And nothing had the chance to be good
Nothing ever could yeah

Edited a bad paste.
is that the UB40 kids who did Red Red Wine???
Hi All,

I apologize for the lateness of my reply, N’cat. Nope, it’s not reggae. Red, Red Wine is sad, but much older than this one (and to me will never be anything but the torch song it was when Neil Diamond originally recorded it.)

Okay, this doesn’t work, so, I’ll give it up. It is “Holding back the years” by Simply Red.

Instead:

All the boys and girls, now

Hello everyone, and sorry, Cyndee. I knew the Simply Red song -- that was a pretty one. We're having some work done at home, and I haven't had much chance to log in today.

I'm pretty sure the current one is Joy To The World, by Three Dog Night.

Here's something a little different. This #4 hit from 1963 was based on a children's song (life was simpler back then, lol). There's a clue to the title of the song contained within these lyrics:

We're having a party
Everybody's having a great time
All the gang's here and a-dancin', yeah
I'm a-loopin' with that baby of mine

Be back when I can.

Whatza matta, you dunno your childrens' songs??

Looks like that one's gonna bomb. It was (Here We Go) Loop de Loop, a one-hit wonder, by...Johnny Thunder!

Back later. I'll leave the floor open.
