Name the song the line is from Part II

Good one! It's All Over Now, by The Stones.

This one's from 1980:

It's such a crazy old town
It can drag you down
'Til you run out of dreams

That’s “Every Woman in the World” by Air Supply. I like that one, Jim.

Billboards last #1 single of the 1950s:

We found the perfect love
Yes, a love that's yours and mine

Quote

We found the perfect love
Yes, a love that's yours and mine...

...I love you and you love me
All the time

That's Why, by Frankie Avalon.

OK, here we have (what else?) Billboard's last #1 single of the 1960s:

You're far away
From me, my love

say a prayer for me
my love..

Mamas and the Papas?

"this is dedicated to the one I love-"- but not sure if I'm right
so I await your verdict

Sorry, but...no.

Some more lines:

You're far away
From me, my love
And just as sure my, my baby
As there are stars above
Wanna say, wanna say, wanna say

It’s “Some day we’ll be together” by The Supremes.

It’s hard for me to believe this only got to #12 in 1961 (in the U.S. that is):

I'll never lose the memory of your name
in the night that I call through the lonely years

Edit: Sorry. In all the excitement, I almost forgot to name Cyndee's song. Pretty sure it's A Little Bit Of Soap, by The Jarmels.

And now for something completely different.

While researching lyrics, I came across this morbid song from 1971, and realized that I vaguely remembered it. It deals with…CANNIBALISM!!

Many radio stations refused to play it, but folks found other outlets, and listened anyway. As a result, the song climbed to #17 on the US charts.

Trapped in a mine that had caved in
And everyone knew the only ones left
Were Joe, and me, and Tim

When they broke through to pull us free
The only ones left to tell the tale
Were Joe……..and me

I’d be amazed if anyone remembered the name of the group, but I thought someone might remember the one-word title.

This probably won’t help, but here's an interesting bit of trivia: This song was written by Rupert Holmes, who some years later would write and sing the song Escape (sometimes called The Piña Colada Song), that most of you probably know.

Timothy.

they played it a lot in Ohio

here goes:

Make the best of the situation
before I finally go insane

Good Morning all - a little trivia - some members of the band that recorded Timothy (Buoys) formed a new band called either Dakota or Dakotas - can't remember which - that opened for Queen on one of their tours.

Wow, good job on Timothy. You guys ate that one up. Ewwww....

'Cat, your lyrics are from Layla, by Derek and The Dominos (Clapton and friends).
