Name the song the line is from Part II

when you're strange-- doors.

Who care what games we choose?
Little to win, but nothin' to lose.
look at yourself, look at yourself
That’s “Incense and Peppermints” by the Strawberry Alarm Clock. What a name.

Hey , Jim. I knew the name of Rupert Holmes in another context. He wrote a play that I reviewed for creative writing class. It was called THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. He’s a very creative and clever writer. Who would think of turning a Charles Dickens serial novella into a comedy for the stage? Not me.

Here’s one from 1982:

I howl and I whine, I'm after you

Edit: Oops, Cyndee wins. How does that happen? A song is up for nearly six hours, and then we both guess it a minute or two apart.

I like yours too much to sweep it under, Jim. It’s “Rhinestone Cowboy” by Glenn Campbell.
Now back to mine:

I howl and I whine, I'm after you

Cyndee, I guess Rupert was a multi-talented guy!

Your lyrics are from Hungry Like The Wolf, by Duran Duran. I liked that one a lot.

Ok, I'll try that 70s song again:

But you're down when you're riding the train
That's takin' the long way

This is gettin' confusing.

I gotta go dig up some more lyrics, Cyn, so if you have anything, feel free to post away.

Oops! I'll wait.

This song dates to the 50s, but an early 70s version turned it into a timeless classic:

And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love

That’s “The First Time Ever I Saw your Face” by Roberta Flack in the early 70s. What a beautiful record that is.

A few years later:

From a faint into a slip
and kickin' from the hip

Yeah! I remember that year!

Carl Douglas said everybody was Kung Fu Fighting. Probably a good thing he didn't see me over in the corner drinking beer.

How 'bout this one:

But they're back again
Just like a long lost friend
all the songs I loved so well
