OK, this band also had midwestern roots, originally made up of a group of college students from one of the Big Ten schools playing cover songs in local clubs. Eventually they attracted new members who started writing original material, and their popularity soared.

This #1 hit was released in 1980. Let's see if anyone can guess it from just a few words:

...all coiled up and hissin'

The Floaters did do another song - but probably shouldn't have
Tonights special award, for the corniest song intro in the history of music, goes to The Floaters!

That’s a line from “Keep on lovin’ you” by REO Speedwagon. I like a lot of their stuff.

Another short clue:

I felt like making a scene

Yikes! I think "corny" may be an understatement, Tony.

Cyndee, I think your lyrics are from Judy's Turn To Cry, by Lesley Gore. My wife used to hate that song. Can you guess her name?

I liked this in the 60s:

Come tomorrow, will I be older?
Come tomorrow may be a soldier
Come tomorrow, may I be bolder than today?

I'm positive that's Positively 4th Street, by Bob Dylan. I don't think Dylan ever really said at whom (individual or group) he was pissed when he wrote that song, thereby leading to years of speculation and controversy.

Seems that we're stuck in the 60s. Well, alrighty then. Here's one from '65:

So goodbye, it's been sweet
Even though incomplete

Hmmm...maybe some more lyrics and a hint or two can save this one. If not, I'll give it up a little later.

Can't you see how I feel
When I say love's unreal?
So goodbye, it's been sweet
Even though incomplete

This was a #8 hit in 1965.

Although the group was from San Francisco, they named their quintet after a real Englishman who had established himself as the arbiter of men's fashion in early 19th century England. In his time, he was called a pioneer and trendsetter by some, and a dandy by others.

Lord Fauntleroy? I think he was an Englishman. (I have no idea about your song.) LOL
Sue HAS to be right
Good guess, but as far as I know Lord Fauntleroy (as in Little Lord Fauntleroy) was fictional. This group named themselves after a real early 19th century Englishman.

Looks like it's time to give it up. The group called themselves the Beau Brummels.

In the lyrics above, the next line would have included the three word title -- So I'll cry Just A Little 'cause I love you so

Can't think of anything challenging at the moment, so here's a gimme:

I'm so glad
That she's my little girl
