The song is from 1963.

Not much I can say about the female artist. She's not well known; this was her only hit record. Wikipedia says she enjoyed a long and lucrative career as a session singer who backed many name artists and also sang dozens of TV commercials and TV theme songs.

Am I right to assume that she was not a very good swimmer? I'm thinking that she never made it as far as England.

As a youngster, this artist moved from Nebraska to L.A., where she later began a singing career. I don’t know if her one big hit ever made it to England, Tony. Based on the reaction it’s received here, I’m beginning to wonder if it ever made it past Bakersfield.

OK everyone, I’m pulling out all the stops. SOMEBODY must have heard this song. Here are more lyrics:

I want to thank you for giving me
The most _________ _____ of my life
I never will forget
That summer day we met
You were so shy and yet
You stole my heart away

As you can see, it’s a two-word title. Keep in mind I was following Cyndee’s lead and doing a song about summer, so it’s probably a safe bet that one of those two words is about…well, you know.

Tony, assuming the song never made it to England, you can give it a listen here.

Gee, and I thought it was such a pretty song, too...

Sorry. That one was obviously a flop. It was Wonderful Summer, by Robin Ward.

I'm out of ideas for the moment, so I'll leave the floor open.

Good song Jim - I hadn't heard it before.

You have lighted the road leading home

Happy 4th!

Performers are from Dublin Ireland.
It was a #1 hit in Britain and made the top twenty in the USA.
the song was written for a movie in 1927 - the first time it was a hit was in 1928.
Jim Reeves covered it in the 1950's

OK - Here is the giveaway line -

I'm in heaven when I see you smile

I'm leaving for Arlington shortly - I'll be one of the Arlington radio jocks for the week, so I'm posting the answer and leaving it open.

The song was My Diane
The biggest hit with it was the Bachelors - here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA5AxPnUzkk

Back Sunday evening

Hmmm . . . just discovered that I am also supposed to headline Friday Night - that would have been good to know earlier! Guess I'll take the Ovation Custom Balladeer and stick to English Folk - Donovan - Pentangle - and Simon and Garfunkel - and some Leonard Cohen. Not what I would have chosen if I had been given reasonable notice. Sorry Stones

Hi All,

I guess I’ll start us off for the day.

This could be easy:

Life can never be exactly like we want it to be
Is that "Say a Little Prayer for Me?"
Sorry Sue,

That's not it.
its on the tip of my brain..

Beach Boys?

I have to lower my music (Adele) and put on my thinking cap Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
crap- nothing coming to me..
life can never be
exactly like we want it to be....

For the Good times?

I'm officailly stumped
OK, I sang it in my head a zillion times and finally got it -- "Dedicated to the One I Love." Right?

This is an OLD Broadway show tune --

"Folks're dumb where I come from,
They ain't had any learnin'"

Sorry if this is too obscure, lol, but I just happened to catch this movie on Turner Classics the other day. It's a great one.
