Name the song the line is from Part II

Everybody loves a clown-- guesing 1966 - 1967 - when I was 6 or 7
Some cereal box has this on on the back of it-- I had to eat the cereal/ cut it careful in a circle and play it on my record player but i sure loved this song and his other one- This Diamond Ring..

makes me wonder how i miss it lyrically Tony..

no clue for your last clue
Looks like this one won't fly

Last couple of clues -

She's the queen of the Sunset Strip

I always called her Hon, she called me 1001

Good times, ..
Tony, I was there/ had the albums..but I also took the drugs,
so until you mentioned Dr. Hook ( Cover of the Rolling Stone) I was brain dead to the lyrics..

A Monster hit for a Down-Under gal:

You have to know~~~
you're bringing out
the animal in me~~~~

There goes that Olivia Newton Hyphen John getting Physical again.

80s, huh? OK, we got 80s:

You're beggin' me to go
You're makin' me stay

More lines and a few hints:

You're beggin' me to go, you're makin' me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know, do I stand in your way
Or am I the best thing you've had?
Believe me, believe me, I can't tell you why
But I'm trapped by your love and I'm chained to your side

This 1983 song reached #5 on the US charts and #49 in the UK. It was re-released in the UK in 1985 after the singer's popularity had grown there, and reached #17 the second time around.

The female singer was originally known for her tough, hard-edged image, which she later softened somewhat. Her 2010 memoir, Between A Heart And A Rock Place, has been generally well received.

I had the singer not the song - as the song goes
But I think that I remember the name of the song -

Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benetar

Assuming that I am right . . .

An oldie

tried to please her, but she only played one night stands.

BTW Noahcat - I remember those cut-out records on cereal boxes - don't know how good they were for the player!

Hi All,

Thanks so much for the B-Day greetings. It was a great day for me.

I do believe Tony’s latest is “Day Tripper” from The Beatles. I love that one.

I just heard this yesterday in a casino:

You just took for granted that I want to skinny dip

Welcome back, Cyndee.

I think that's We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off, by Jermaine Stewart.

Some 90s here:

She said you're one in a million
You got to burn to shine

There are very few 1990 and beyond that I would get.

This one is an exception -

Leonard Cohen - You Woke Up This Morning

This is another post 1990 - one of the very few that I would recognize. A very sad recollection of one of my favourite "new" singers -

I ain't got the time and if my daddy thinks I'm fine
