Name the song the line is from Part II

I'm confused, Jim. I'm thinking of "Let the Little Girl Dance," but I think the line in that song is "She wants to dance by you." Am I in the wrong ballpark? LOL

Sorry to hear that, Tony. We're going to miss you, but we'll be hoping for the best for you and your Mom.

Drop in and let us know how things are going if you get a chance.

Take care.

Thanks. Mum passed away Sunday morning. She had no quality of life the last couple of years.
Now for all the beaurocracy that the Brits are so good at. Hoping to fly back next week.

Tony

Sincere condolences, Tony. Take care.

I am so sorry, Tony. Peace be with you.

Cyndee

Sorry to hear that, Tony. I understand completely what you mean by "no quality of life," as I went through the same thing with my mother a few years ago. She's at peace now.

You're in the right ballpark, alright...you got the song, Sue.

Here’s the whole verse:

Let the little girl through
She wants to pass by you
Buddy, can’t you see
She wants to dance with me

As far as I know, the line “she wants to dance by you” wasn’t in the song, but it’s easy to imagine how the second line in the above verse could have been mistaken for that back in the days of scratchy 45s and crackly AM radio.

Anyway, you’re up!

Edit: Oops. Now I see that some of the lyrics websites do indeed say "dance by you" rather than "pass by you." When I look at the context, I think "pass" makes more sense, but, I dunno. See what you think
here.

Oh, and don't pay any attention to me arguing with myself. Either way, you correctly guessed the song, Sue.

Thanks Jim, Cyndee and Sue - I appreciate it. Hope to be back in a week

Tony
Yes, Jim, I checked a lyrics site after I posted, and it did say "dance by you."

"Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such"
Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
