I'm still trying to deal with the fact that there may be two Tonyrobs out there. The first one was tough enough.

Just kiddin' ya, buddy. I've been thinking. When I read those lyrics, I have a feeling that I may know the artist (I'm probably way wrong), but I can't place the song.

Would a hint be possible?

A full verse -

Days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long
Time around me whispers when it's cold.
The changes somehow frighten me, still I have to smile,
It turns me on to think of growing old.

It was an album track that featured on a lot of this singers albums - one of which was the name of the song. The singer died in an accident.

My hunch was John Denver. Based on your hint, that could be possible. Or I could still be way wrong. Just can't seem to place the song.

Hi Jim

Yes - it was John Denver.

The song was the title track of his breakthrough album, "Poems, Prayers and Promises"

Here it is - with the Muppets!

I'm out for a while so I'll leave it open

Thanks

An open floor, huh?

This one from 1985 shouldn’t last long:

All your suits are custom made in London
but I’ve got something that you’ll really like
I don't know how I missed that one, Tony. Pretty song. And I never realized that John Denver and The Muppets made such a great combination.

Cyndee, I grew up in southeastern Michigan. Madonna grew up in southeastern Michigan. Everytime we met, she said, "Jim, I'm gonna Dress You Up." I was always afraid to ask exactly what she meant, but that's what she said. Honest.

OK, some guy did this one back in the 50s:

I only know that I love you, and that you love me, too
So darling, please do what I ask of you

Hey, Jim. I think she was tired of looking at guys in “Hang Ten” t-shirts and Levi’s 501s.

Your song is “Wear my ring around your neck” by Elvis Presley.

About the same time these other guys were singing this:

He even made the teacher let him sit next to my baby

I guess I can understand that.

As far as your song goes, well, that darn Johnny can get anything he wants, 'cause he's the teacher's pet now. I think the Everlys even called him a Bird Dog.

This one right here happened in 1984:

There's a blue whale beached by a springtide's ebb.

More lines:

There's a blue whale beached by a springtide's ebb
(It's my soul up there)
There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web
(It's my soul up there)

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain

Looks like that one isn't working.

It was King Of Pain, by The Police.

I'll leave this one, from 1968:

She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb, and kinda smart
And I loved her so
