Name the song the line is from Part II

S&G The Boxer

In the same vein:

He had no friends, he seldom spoke
And no one in turn ever spoke to him,
'Cause he wasn't friendly and he didn't care
And he wasn't like them.

A most peculiar man S & G

Missed Season and Boxer - gotta visit more often

******NEW******** Another Folkie -

I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it,

More?

I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin’
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin’
I saw a white ladder all covered with water
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children

I WAS going to say, "Here's an easy one" - glad I didn't

ok - First Verse - I KNOW that Jim would know this song -

Oh, where have you been my blue-eyed son,
oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I`ve stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains,
I`ve walked and I`ve crawled on six crooked highways,
I`ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests,
I`ve been out in the front of a dozen dead oceans,
I`ve been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard.

And it`s a ____, and it`s a ____, it`s a _____,

F C - G C - F - C

and it`s a ____, it`s a _____ ______`s a gonna fall.

WOW - Final Clue - This is a HARD one

Well done, Bob. It was beginning to look like no one knew that one.

Bob, If you decide to play again in the future, and we hope you do, keep in mind that correctly guessing the most recent lyrics entitles you to post your own lyrics, if you'd like.

Looking back over the past 2-3 weeks, I see that Bob generally posts on evenings and weekends, which leads me to believe that he may work, run a business, or be otherwise occupied on weekdays. To keep things moving, someone should probably go ahead and post new lyrics.

Who wants to do the honors?

Sorry! I obviously didn't know the flow or structure of this game when I posted my reply last night. I'll do better next time! I'm sure I can come up with some lyrics that will be both easy and hard at the same time.

OK - so I just said to my (Canadian) wife - these guys are all asleep - can't believe that none of them got that one - and she said, "Well I have no idea what it was"
In England we had a lot of American Folk Songs that became anthems - whether or not they were hits.
This was such a song.
I'll post the answer Thurs a.m. if nobody gets it - but I still believe that Jim knows it

Tony, most of the music I know I learned by listening to Top 40 radio from the mid-50s through the mid-90s. If it was played in that venue, there's a good chance I'd know it.

On the other hand, I suck at things like, say, album tracks that weren't released as singles and therefore got little or no Top 40 airplay. Even if they were done by famous artists on popular albums, I probably wouldn't know 'em.

I may be wrong, but the fact that I don't know this one even after all the hints leads me to guess that it may be in that latter category. If it is, that's just my weak spot. Sorry, buddy.

Hi All,

I’m not sure if this song is “Folk”, but it’s folksy:

It was down in Louisiana,
Just about a mile from Texarkana,
