Hi All,

I’m not sure if this song is “Folk”, but it’s folksy:

It was down in Louisiana,
Just about a mile from Texarkana,

Cotton Fields by Mr Lebetter (Lead Belly)
Good one"

Continuing the theme of the morning . . .

He went off to Congress and served a spell,
fixin' up the Govern'ments an' laws as well,

He even patched up the crack in the Liberty Bell!

Tony, are you servin' up lyrics from The Ballad of Davy Crockett? It's the end of days, I tell ya!

Let's try this one-liner:

Leavin' me lookin' like a dumbstruck fool

More lines and a few hints:

Oh, my love, you're so good at treating me so cruel
There you go with your fancy lies
Leavin' me lookin' like a dumbstruck fool

It's a brother group. The song is from 1975 (#1 US, #5 UK)

…with all your “Jive Talkin’”. Good one, Jim! The Bee Gees had a big hit with that one.

I’ll take it back to 1963:

Don't you tell me my baby's just a playboy (That's a lie)
I won't listen to a single word you say (He's my guy)

I liked that one! It's Don't Say Nothin' Bad About My Baby, by The Cookies.

This one is from 1980:

I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence

Leaving a few more lines and a few hints:

I was in your arms
Thinking I belonged there
I figured it made sense
Building me a fence

Building me a home
Thinking I'd be strong there
But I was a fool
Playing by the rules

This song about the end of a romance, and possibly a divorce, was a 1980 Top-10 hit (#8 US, #1 UK) for this Swedish group. It’s also sung in both the stage and movie musical productions featuring many of the group’s best known tunes.

OK - going out on more of a limb than I usually do.
I have seen the band a few times - and the Mama Mia stage show at Mandalay Bay
Don't know for sure, but I think that was Abba - Winner Takes It All

IF I was right, I'll leave it open - won't be around much in the next 24 hours.

Great Band!
