Name the song the line is from Part II

Guessing ur right Tony.
Here's a fave of mine by a "sweet baby" folkie:

Baby's hungry and the money's all gone..
Hi All,

That’s a sweet song indeed, N’cat. It’s so mellow. “Mexico” by James Taylor is one to hear when you fight cross-town traffic.

I guess # 3 in 1972 will do:

Like a guiding light to help me
through my darkest hour

That's another sweet song, indeed. Baby I'm A Want You, by Bread.

This is from 1972 as well:

There's something in my eyes
You know, it happens every time
I think about the love that I thought would save me

I often wonder what he would have done with his career if Jim Croce hadn’t die when he did. He gave us a lot of good songs like that one. It’s “Operator”.

Moving on to 1973:

It's been three long years
Do you still want me?

I believe that's "yellow ribbon around the old oak tree".
Yes, it is. What do you say?
Thanks,
New: If you should run into a shower
step inside my parties door

Hmmm . . . I heard Streisand sing this but t wasn't her song - it came from one of the old classics - Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra - don't recall which. Wasn't Sammy Davis. Also - I think the word "Parties" is wrong - I kinda remember it was a cottage door. Having said all of that - I don't know the name of the song so consider this some free clues!

Tonyrob

PS - giving some finger-style guitar lessons this weekend - so if I post any questions - they will probably be fingerstyle guitar. Now there is a clue - in advance!
