Name the song the line is from Part II

That one is “Babe” by Styx. It’s a nice one.

One from 1974:

If I had tale that I could tell you
I’d tell a tale sure to make smile

BTW, “The Last Song” was done by a group called Edward Bear.

Pretty song!

Sunshine On My Shoulders, by John Denver.

Keeping it in the mid-70s:

We were just young, and restless, and bored
Livin' by the sword

Good song - Bob Seger Night Moves

Fortunately for this newly solo singer, this song was put on the B side of his first single

************ NEW ***************

All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand

Good one!

That be Maggie May, by Mr. Stewart. I appreciate your insights, Tony.

A Philly group had a hit with this in 1975, although it wasn't released as a US single. A Motown artist covered in 1976, and took it to #1:

Aaah baby, my heart is full of love and desire for you
Now come on down and do what you gotta do

That’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way” I don’t recall ever hearing it by anyone other than Thelma Houston. Who else did it, Jim?

I heard this today from 1975:

It's a fact that people get lonely, ain't nothing new
But a woman like you, baby should never have the blues

Hi Cyn.

Like you, I thought Thelma Houston owned Don't Leave Me This Way, but I sometimes learn a lot by researching before posting.

The song was written by Gamble and Huff. I keep coming across those names, and I now realize that they were to Philly what Holland-Dozier-Holland were to Motown.

Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes recorded it first, and did pretty well with it (#5 UK, #3 US Disco). It could have ended happily there, but somebody at Motown decided that Thelma should do it, and it became a monster worldwide hit (Top 20 in something like 14 countries).

I know your current song, but I don't have anything lined up, so I'll pass for now. I need COFFEE. It can help.

OK. Second cup of Joe. Much better now.

That one is I Can Help, by Billy Swan.

We be in the late 70s here:

At times I think we're drifters
Still searching for a friend
A brother or a sister
But then the passion flares again

Some times when we touch.. I have it by Barry Manilow, His "greatest love songs from all Times" or greatest songs from the 70s album. (which would be mostly Barry Manilow tunes..)

cyndee - forgive me for not mentioning that you were the one who awakened me to 'Gamble and Huff.'

noahcat - I be thinkin' on that one.

Hi All,

Yes, Jim. Gamble and Huff sure did write some good ones for the Philly Soul scene. I went ahead and listened to a You Tube posting of the original recording of “Don’t leave me this way”. It’s not bad, but I thought it would be better. After all, we are talking Teddy Pendergrass on lead vocals. So, it just didn’t live up to my expectations. And so, it goes.

“Sometimes when we touch” by Dan Hill gets a little play around here. He wrote it, but I like Tina Turner’s version better. Strange coincidence, the guy who wrote the music is named Barry Mann. And yes, N’cat Barry Manilow practically owned the 1970s ballads. Lest anyone forgets it. He did however go back and record some he liked from back then. I have that one too.

Anyway, we have a new one to work on. N’cat gave us:
