Name the song the line is from Part II

Well, that took me longer than it should. It’s “Nights on Broadway” by the Bee Gees.

I pulled this out of 1966:

The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Born Free by ???

Here's one:

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder

Bob

We wuz all Born To Be Wild, according to Steppenwolf.

But we had to make a decision:

I could go east
I could go west
It was all up to me to decide

I'll have to bite the bullet and pass on this one.
I can hear the band but can't place the title

Just then I saw a young hawk flyin'
And my soul began to rise
And pretty soon
My heart was singin'

Roll, roll me away,
Another Bob Seger classic

Try this one:

Mother,mother,everbody thinks we're wrong

And I ain’t gonna lose!

That’s “We are the champions” by Queen.

This one is fun:

I wasn't even too sure about the soup du jour
I hear they change that every day!

Edited to add line break

I'm pretty sure I know who it is, Cyn.

I be tryin' hard to come up with what it is. Sorry.

Sorry all,

This one looks like a dud. I didn’t check it out before posting. Now I can’t even find out when it was released and I don’t know what kind of airplay it got. I think I heard it on Dr. Demento or something. Anyway, it’s “Gourmet Restaurants” by Ray Stevens.

This one from 1962 will work better:

You better ask your mama

Where it began
I can't begin to knowin'
