That's Dangling Converstion, by Si and Gar.

From 1970:

What a tale your thoughts could tell.
Just like a paperback novel,
The kind the drugstores sell

He is playing here this week - Gordon Lightfoot - If You Could Read My Mind

I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled

CLUES - - - CLUES - - - CLUES - - -

Charted big in US and UK in Sixties.
Brit Band
Song appeared in 5 movies (sung by this band in four of them)
Q magazine placed it in 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.
Rolling Stone rated the song on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
VH1 placed it in the 100 Greatest Rock Songs

Unusual for a rock song - it was played on 2 acoustic guitars with different tunings

This is weird. Once again I don’t know how that post happened before I even read the page. But then I looked at Tony’s post and recognized the song. It’s “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” by the Rolling Stones.

This one from 1980 is very different:

We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play

Edited for bad paste

September Morn - Neil Diamond.

Leaving it open - busy Monday coming up.

How about this one:
Without your sweet love what would life be

Bob
I think that's "Let It Be Me," by the Everlys.

Don't have one in mind yet this morning, so the floor is open.

Ok, let's go with:

I was a sailor, I was born upon the tide.
And with the sea I did abide
