Name the song the line is from Part II

It's cold here in the city
It always seems that way
And I've been thinkin' about you
Almost every day

This song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Adult Contemporary, and Country charts in 1975. The lyrics amount to an apology. Two-word title, or three depending on whether you count a contraction as two words.

The singer-songwriter, who sang mostly Country and Folk tunes, was killed in 1997 when his experimental single-engine plane crashed in the ocean off Pacific Grove, CA.

I was thinking John Denver before your clue to the artist, but I don't know the song. It sounds like "Hey, It's Good to Be Back Home Again," but that's too many words, LOL. So I'm stumped.

Here are some more lines, some of which include the title:

It's cold here in the city
It always seems that way
And I've been thinkin' about you
Almost every day
Thinking about the good times
Thinking about the rain
Thinking about how bad it feels alone again

_'_ _____ for the way things are in China
_'_ _____ things ain't what they used to be
But more than anything else
_'_ _____ for myself
'Cause you're not here with me

If no one knows it, I'll give it up this afternoon or evening.

I know it is by John "that's far out man" Denver. "I'm Sorry" has to be it. It works on all the fill in.

new lyrics

And pigeons fly
And papers lie
Waiting to blow away

here is more...........

Woke up, it was a ------- -------, and the first thing that I knew
There was milk and toast and honey and a bowl of oranges, too

Chelsea Morning Fairport Convention

Here is one-
God save strawberry jam and all the different varieties.
Preserving the old ways from being abused,
Protecting the new ways for me and for you.
What more can we do?

Tonyrob

I had no clue on that one. I googled, so I'm out.

Tonyrob seems a little "out there" if he doesn't know Chelsea Morning is written by Joni Mitchell.

who the F is Fariport Convention?
yet...
I'll accept it

Any clue on the God and strawberry jam song?!? far out man

British Sixties album

Widely considered one of the most influential and important works from this band.

Only sold 100,000 worldwide on its release - but later was in Rolling Stone 500 greatest albums of all time.

Hi All,

Well, if the Rolling Stone included it in the “500 greatest albums of all time”, it starts me thinking. With those lines, it must be a satire. But I’m still not familiar with the song at all. I give up.

Another Clue -

In The Village Voice Robert Christgau called it "the best album of the year so far",

Also - it was the last album with the original lineup. The bass player left after the album release.

Let me know if you want the answer or more clues.
