About Monday Morning Quarterbacking...

David Miller, Tom and the usual suspects here want us to give Donald Trump a pass on the largest governmental failure in the history of the United States.  We now lead the world in the number of COVID-19 cases and the number of COVID-19 deaths.  David says we shouldn't Monday morning QB the awful decisions that led to this result. According to David, every day should be looked at as a fresh start.

Your team drafts a young 1st rounder to be the QB of the future. Your current QB is a journeyman on the wrong side of 35. The idea at the start of the season is to sit the young QB for a year and let him develop. Midway through the season, your team finds itself at 0-8 and your journeyman is averaging 3-4 interceptions a game and less than 200 passing yards-per-game.  It seems father time has caught up with the older OB as he no longer has the arm to throw the mid to deep ball.  Every defense in the league has picked up on this.

So come Monday morning after your 8th loss do you put the young guy in or do you stick with the old guy? Coach David Miller would say stick with the old guy.  He would say we can't second guess the older QB and past performance is no indicator of future performance.

This is not football, it is life. There is no real playbook for this worldwide pandemic. Every day new things are learned. Mouthing off and hindsighting everything every moment accomplishes nothing. The whole world was caught off guard and is dealing with this crisis the best that they can. As far as I am concerned, bitching and moaning, finger pointing, and all of the other hindsight noise is unwarrented and distructful. I am sure that those whose life and character are centered around being being a constant complainer are overjoyed at having this opportunity to display their take on what should have been done, when it should have been done and who is to blame. The real shame is that there are and have been thousands of people who are suffering and dying while the ones who have appointed themselves as the all knowing still are drawing a breath. To all of those who have nothing but criticism I say FUCK YOU.

Stalker never criticized Obama once during the entire eight years of his presidency. Because if he had, he'd be a filthy fucking hypocrite now.

David, you are the one that keeps describing legitimate criticisms of how things were handled as Monday morning quarterbacking. I agree it is life and that is why it is a shame we have such a terrible President that treats it like a game touting miracle cures, holding rambling two-hour pressers where he contradicts his own medical advisors and brags about his social media ratings while people are dying.

And it isn't just past decisions. It is the current decisions he is making. The choice to promote a miracle cure that is more likely to give you permanent heart damage than it is to make your condition better and his willingness to reopen the economy based upon nothing more than his non-medically trained right-wing buddies' pet theories.  Trump's incompetence had already killed a lot of people.  How many more are going to die because of your dear leader's desire to follow his "gut instincts" rather than following the advice of medical and scientific advisors?

If he reopens the economy in May, it is going to be even a bigger disaster.  Anybody with a functioning brain can see that.

Oh, and there was and is a playbook for handling a pandemic. Obama helped to create it. Trump destroyed it. And why? Because his entire agenda has been "undo Obama."

I've said, and I think the other reasonable people have also said, that I'd support Trump's efforts to address this crisis if he actually did something right. We're still waiting, unfortunately.

Below is a link (if it works) to a major, exhaustive front page story in today's NYT documenting Trump's lies and errors in dealing with the coronavirus. I offer it not for Trump supporters who don't believe what Trump said to Leslie Stahl in 2016 about why he bashes the "fake media" when he knows they are reporting the truth.

"You know why I do it?" Trump said to Leslie Stahl. "I do it to discredit you and demean you all so when you write negative stories about me, no one will believe you."

I'm offering it, rather, for those here who *don't" get their facts from Hannity and company and may have missed this major examination of Trump's reaction to the virus crisis.

"He Could Have Seen What Was Coming: Behind Trump's Failure on the Virus"

by Eric Lipton David E. Sanger Maggie Haberman Michael D.Shear Mark Mazzetti Julian E. Barnes --  NY Times 4/12/20

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/11/us/politics/coronavirus-trump-response.html

Here's the thing....

This is a worldwide pandemic with almost every industrialized country being impacted.     When this is over there will be data  showing some kind of ranking of countries that knocked it down faster than others.

Some 0f that data has already begun to materialize.

And what it shows (will show)  is the countries that reacted quickly with a national response fared much better than those that did not.   Dr Fauci has already weighed in on the failures of the United States to get good marks on either one of those metrics.   ANd as much as President Trump wants to blame the governor of New York, President Obama, or the Fake News  the fact is he was our leader during this mess.    And his response was to outsource leadership to the states.   And that was pretty dumb.

It's not just Trump's failures of leadership. It's the continuing willingness of Trumpers to excuse him.

I have to assume that some of them were decent people before they became Trumpers. But maybe, admitting to themselves that they'be been supporting a horrible man is just too painful--so they double down. Repeat a mistake rather than admit you've made it.

The terrible part is that the fathers, brothers, husbands, wives, sisters, mothers, and children of those Trumpers are dying, and they are complicit in those deaths by electing a terrible leader.

And even as they bury their loved ones, they still cheer for him.

It is amazing that the commies of the LVA continue to put no blame on China's consistent lying & misrepresenting of the China virus.

Fauci must be going senile as he now says we should have acted sooner. In February he said the effects of the virus to the US was minuscule. Earlier I posted a link to a video that shows medical experts saying as late as March that the US will not be significantly affected.

Ignored is the incompetence of NY's Democrats who kept the city & it's schools open while encouraging people to go out.

The CDC & FDA insisted on being the only group to administer tests, even though their tests were faulty. Somehow the incompetence of some low level bureaucrats is President Trump's fault.

While mark likes to point out that the US has the most cases & deaths he ignores the fact that the US has more people. In reality the US has lower infection & mortality rates per million.

All of the above has been repeatedly pointed out to the stooges, but is ignored by the stooges because it doesn't fit into their TDS of Trump sucks.

I'll have to check my copy of the Constitution but I'm pretty sure AMerican citizens dont have the ability to democoratically change leadership in China.

As for the people we do - we can compare them to the leaders of the rest of the world to see how they did at addressing this crisis.....or (if you are Tom)  you can blame the governor of New York for our lack of a national response to a national pandemic.

(In the interest of Tom's reputation I suggest he doesn't utter that latter viewpoint in a forum  not concealing his real identity unless he enjoys being pointed and laughed at.)
