Only 1 year later. What a difference!
Saks is famous for their window displays. During Christmas people wait in lines to see it.
33 people shot in NYC in a 24 hour period ending Saturday am but diblasio has multiple police watching his Blm graffiti scattered around the city.
This has been a topic much discussed with friends lately. We don't see NY coming back. The restaurants that are closed. many are done opening in other States. The riots and Covid were the final straws . The owners said the increasing , rent, taxes rules and lengthy regulations made their positions tenuous before this happenned.
I have friends and my friends familys live in New York. It is very disheartening. Many are moving out not to return. Actors who are out of work and with no restaurants open either are leaving in droves. Major shows will not be open this year if even next year.
I certainly would not be feelling comfortable enough to visit/ shop/see a play anywhere in the near future if ever at all.

WHY DO THEY KEEP VOTING FOR THIS???? It makes me crazy.
Speaking of voting for nutty Liberals, California is once again running low on tax revenue. There is a new state proposal which will not only increase income taxes on the rich (again), but would also tax their wealth at 0.4%. Top state proposed income taxes woiuld push 17%, PLUS..............Plus, the plan is to tax wealth of the rich even if they leave the state for a decade even after they leave.
This could be a short term windfall, but it will prevent wealthy business owners and other rich people from moving to the state. It's a long term tax revenue killer. Some of the rich would assure that they stay at one of their out of state homes for over half the year, or move before the tax goes into effect. I can't imagine that taxing people after they leave the state is even constitutional.
WHY DO THEY KEEP VOTING FOR THIS! Actually, I know the answer to this question. Liberal voters believe that the new taxes will lead to more free shit for them. These voters are not sophisticated enough to understand that the increasing taxes are chasing away the largest tax payers within the state, eventually leading to less free shit.
You're bragging about how our government's failed virus containment is hurting big cities? Oh snap ! Winning !
FYI - every state is facing a massive amount of revenue shortfalls and will not be able to pay for schools, fire departments, police, and all public services.

But dont worry. Unlike the rest of the world that has largely put this thing under control - we are going to be printing a bunch of "other peoples' money" to fix it. Because masks are for pussies. And deficits only matter when Democrats are shrinking them.

I know, right? Why did people like you vote for someone who threw away the pandamic response team only to ridicule our leading medical experts, spread conspiracy theories, and lead 1/3 of the country in an effort to disobey best practices of containment? Makes me crazy too.
Oh, and Dawn, next time you see federal money get spent in your zipcode make sure you thank the looney liberal tax payers of New York and California who paid for it.
Diblasio has added 32,000 people to the nyc payroll since he took office, even though the population has decreased. To date not a single person has been laid off even though hundred of thousands private employees have been laid off
The transit system has been running reduced schedules & the subways are shut down late at night. Nobody has been laid off. Schools ran on half days but everyone was paid their full salaries.
The city just paid sex workers $5m.
Diblasio cut the police budget by $1b, but keeps his 20 man police escort. With the largest transit system in the world, the city has several thousand cars.
Money can be saved with a little bit of effort.

So your solution is more unemployment in the public sector? Thats what you're advocating? Even as you ridicule liberals for wanting to defund the police? Thats hilarious.
People laid off in the both the public and private sectors are subsidized by the Federal Government ... So its not saving any money - its just pushing around who its borrowed from. And in the meantime who teaches your kids, puts out your fires, or patrols your streets?
Our fiscal crisis will not be saved by cutting salaries and jobs. It will be saved by putting this virus behind us....ya know, like the rest of the world that isn't led by a QaNon conspiracy theorist. In the meantime I suggest you buy ourself something pretty with your welfare check before the dollar loses all its value.
PJ, you and I know that Tom is arguing that public workers should face that same dire experiences that the private sector employees do. They do not.
