Another stupid policy for so many reasons

I don't think subsidizing bio-fuels as it is done now makes much sense. Yes, invest in developing new technology that shows potential but no to investing in old tech like ethanol subsidies that we know will never make economic sense and in reality is just free money being handed out to big farmers.

Ethanol doesnt have a future beyond what the government mandates for it.  I'm all for stopping it.  EV technology largely displaces any need for ethanol in personal use vehicles which is really what it was meant for.

Biodiesel does have a future.    Biodiesel potentially can be used to power large vehicles:  container ships, jet planes, locamotives, etc.      And there is ultimately an endless supply of it.   Right now every restaurant pays someone to remove cooking oil and grease and dispose of it.   Biodiesel will make that a profit for restaurants instead of an expense and then use it to power large fleets with much lower emissions.

The US is currently building infrastructure to manufacture enough to meet demand.  In the meantime we import enough to meet demand.    Its a short term investment that will turn into a free standing industry that creates US jobs.....just like the EV technology that the Boilermans of the world made the same arguyment against 15 years ago.

Finally something I can agree with Mark about.

Then Mark must be wrong.

That's why we're paying to import it in the short term--to jump-start the industry needed to refine/process and distribute it. That's playing the long game. Boiler doesn't understand it but fortunately, the folks running things are smarter than Boiler. MUCH smarter.

Biofuel will never compete on a strictly economic basis with crude oil.

Kevin keeps telling us that wind and solar is cheaper than traditional sources for electricity.  If Kevin was correct, there would be no need for mandates to use this type of power.  It would be gone in a second otherwise.

1.  PJ is afraid to say that he supports paying $280 per barrel for used Chinese cooking oil.

2.  PJ doesn't understand that the biofuels policy that he loves to talk about is not relevant in the purchase of used cooking oil from overseas.

Gee, I recall some fool saying that about solar power...who was that? Name began with "B" as I remember...

Which is why there are no such mandates. You're free to use the more expensive alternatives.

This just in - PJ doesnt write legislation in the US congress.  The man Boilerman happily votes for does.   Boilerman would rather blame me for the legislation instead of the Republican Congressman he votes for.

Boiilerman lies about it being "liberal" policy and endorses the Republicans who sponcer it.   I cant help him with his flagrant dishonesty and hypocrisy beyond pointing it out.

Its also worth pointing out this subsidy overwhelmingly helps MAGA Trump zealot farmers who gladly accept their government check while screaming "welfare" about college graduates getting loan relief.

I have no direct skin in the game unlike the hypocrites who accept the subsidies.   Much like Obamacare this law helps red states more than blue.

And its also worth pointing out all the bullshit "no future in EV Vehicles" rhetoric Boilerman has been barfing out fo the last 10 years.    His objections about Biodiesel are equally intelligent.

If your reading skills weren't so childishly poor, you'd know that PJ has already answered both of your idiot questions. If you don't like answers, or are too fucking dumb to understand them, don't ask questions.
