The big trucks sell nearly 10x as much as the mid size trucks. And I like the Ranger. But thats just the sales numbers.

PJ, the Jerp Renegade isn't a pick up truck, I think you are confusing it with the Jeep Gladiator. Which really isn't a Truck but an extended Jeep Wrangler with a box on back! Now the Comanche... that was a Real Truck! and could hold its ground with any in class competitor!

I know the Renegade is not a truck...my point is it has an unfair reputation as being a "chick-vehicle". I guarantee the Maverick will too. Pickup trucks are popular not because of their utility, but because they serve as substitute penises. "Look how BIG mine is!!!!"
I wonder if gas prices hitting $5 a gallon will take the bloom off the rose. Big manly pickup truck sales have dived in the past when the oil companies decided to do the price gouge thing. I suspect that the Ford Rhinoceros or whatever might have been on the drawing board at such times and then quietly shelved.
I also wonder if there will ever be completely electric full-size pickup trucks. As part of the appeal of the big chunky trucks is the rumbling, menacing noise they make, I doubt they would be very popular with the penis compensation crowd.
