He just read that Fakebook headline, came in his pants, and rushed over here to post it. He didn't read the article or anything like that.

AOC really twists misogynistic conservitard panties. By her very existence.

Most of the money were tax incentives  Amazon was going to receive a tax break on the property in a run down area of the city.  Since the property was never developed NYC instead of receiving some tax revenue from the property, now receive no tax revenue

Projections were for incentives of around $2b & tax revenue was $27b over 25 years .

Nobody could have projected that the economy would slip & Amazon would have to start cutting jobs; which cortez didn't say was a reason to cancel the project.   Missed out on the project was the improvement of the area, construction jobs, growth in local businesses that would service the campus & income & sales tax revenue from people north of $100k annually.

Tom blesses Ron DeSantis for taking away Disney's sweetheart tax deal....but when NY does it to Amazon then its anti-business or something.

In case you havent learned by now - Tom doesnt subscribe to his own bullshit but for some strange reason he thinks you should

Stupid Tommie-poo, ANY property in NYC is valuable and will eventually be developed, with or without sweetheart deals. Amazon wanted not only huge tax breaks, but also all kinds of preferential treatment, including waivers of environmental regulations.

And by the way--your statement that the city receives no tax revenue now from the property is simply a lie. As is your implication that the property won't be developed in the future.

Furthermore, there would be severe negative impacts with traffic, burden on utility infrastructure, water and power, and strain on police and fire departments. It wouldn't be any kind of free lunch for the city.

Stupid Tommie-poo.

She opposed the deal because:

1.  Most of these deals never turn out for the taxpayers. Usually, the projections from the companies being provided funds from the taxpayers are overly optimistic and downright unrealistic. If you need an example how these deals turn out, look at how Trump and Lil Scotty Walker's Foxconn deal turned out for Wisconsin.

2. NY city has an affordable housing crisis. She realized this East Cost Amazon HQ (That's what it was billed as to get the big taxpayer cash) would make the housing crisis worse.  Look at what Amazon did to the Seattle housing market. And when Seattle tried to pass a modest tax on Amazon to fund affordable housing to fix the problem Amazon created they threw a tantrum and threatened to leave town. Thus,  even if Amazon's projections panned out it would have left NY with a lot of problems that would require taxpayer funds to fix.

NY spent $11b on the East Side Access & $3b on the 2nd Ave subway line (3 stops).  The full 2nd Ave line will cost $17b.

East side access is already available via the Times Square shuttle & connecting subway lines.  People on the East side were already using the Lexington Ave line.

NY had no problem spending $14b to provide alrerady available service, but cortez was upset about giving up a potential $2+b in tax revenue to get tax revenues, well above that, additional jobs, business expansion, & redevelopment.

To date nothing has been done to redevelop the area that Amazon abandoned.

There are 60,000 rent stabilized apartments that are vacant because landlords are not being allowed to pass along the required improvements.

PJ pointed out that the tax revenue projection is unrealistic. He also pointed out that the result would be an exacerbation of the existing housing crisis. Those points, you ignored, as you always do when you get schooled.

AOC was well aware that any tax revenues gained wouldn't be worth the overcrowding and pressure on housing. Unlike you, she knows that money isn't the only issue here. We need legislators like her who don't genuflect to the almighty corporate dollar and ignore all other considerations.

Stupid Tommie-poo.

The area is not zoned for housing, so no lost housing. The average taxes on 75,000 income in NY is 19,000. Multiply that by 25,000 jobs you get $400m+. Increased taxes after 5 years is $2b. This not included revenue from sales taxes, mass transit, tolls income taxes from increased employment in the area as well increased real estate taxes

All this for passing on some short term tax revenue.

In addition you turn a stagnant area into a vibrant one.

NY had no problem blowing $17b on mass transit projects that didn't add anything.

The sad part is that she has an economics degree from Boston U

Cortez had no problem with getting tax breaks for her business

Ocasio-Cortez was one of several Bronx-based entrepreneurs (Brook Ave Press) and start-up advocates quoted in the release, put out by Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr. and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., in support for the proposed Small Business Start-up Support Act. The bill would have increased deductions for start-up costs from $5,000 to $10,000

So the several thousand Amazon workers would live in balloons hovering over NYC. Oooooookay.

AOC's business was a small entrepreneurship. The tax break she would have gotten with the bill would have been $5,000. Comparing that to Amazon's proposed multi-billion-dollar tax break is a special kind of stupid.

Really, stupid Tommie-poo, you're pathetically willing to twist yourself into logical knots to try to justify your asinine points.

You're a complete fucking moron.
