I wasn't stating an opinion on your particular location's voting experiences, because I don't know where that location is. "In Texas" don't narrow it down much, pard, y'all bein' so big and all.
To repeat---I feel very sorry for those whose voting experience isn't going to be as painless as yours or mine, and I applaud their dedication. It takes a strong sense of civic duty to stand all day in the rain to cast a vote that might be nullified by the state's Republican legislature anyway. Or deliberately not counted. Or rendered meaningless because of a decision by the Trump Court.
There are apparently plans in multiple states for the Proud Idiots and other such groups to engage in active voter intimidation tactics at polling places, including brandishing GUNZ and attempting to confront voters. Nevada is one state that has detected credible threats and authorities have issued sharp warnings to anyone who intends to engage in voter intimidation. I don't know what the punishment for such antics is, but I do know it should be a bullet to the head.
Like every other sane and decent person, I'm hoping for a Biden victory that is so decisive that no court challenges will be worth pursuing. I fear that what we'll actually get is a narrow Biden victory, and we'll spend the next two months dealing with court challenges and idiot tweets about the "rigged election" that Trump lost and all those "fraudulent ballots" that were turned in. That's the worst part--that we'll have to spend that much more time paying attention to Trump.
So if that doesn't come to pass, because Biden wins decisively, my heartfelt thanks will go to all those people who stood in line for hours on Election Day to exercise a right that Republicans don't think they should have.
