Biden Administration begins first round of Drug Price negotiations

10 drugs targeted for price negotiations saving taxpayers money

You can add this to the list of things Trump talked about but couldn't do.   And the current senile, catatonic president could.

And also worth noting all those "fiscal hawk" Republicans who voted to waste taxpayer money by telling Pharma to name their own price.

There is a risk that when the drug companies say they will drop out of Medicare; forcing people to pay for the drugs themselves.

Politics and lobbying will have most influence on the drug prices

Only 12% of Medicare spending is on drugs. Factor in that only 10 drugs out of 3.500 (0.3%)are on the list; we are back to the usual liberal bleating & much ado about nothing.

The Repugs want to do away with Medicare/Medicaid.

How many drug manufacturers have dropped out of private insurance plans because of their price negotiations?       Or in the rest of the free world where those negotiations occur?

And like I said - its the first round of drugs.   Actually its the second round.  Biden already reduced prices on insulin which impacts 7.5 million Americans.      Much ado about nothing.   And Trump was as feckless at achieving that promise as he was at building a wall or replacing Obamacare.

80% of medicare recipients have Medicare Part D (costs less than $50/month) which covers insulin.  Of the other 20% some have drug coverage thru other sources. The others can solve the issue by buying their own coverage. So we are talking small numbers

Part D

Medicare Part D is funded primarily  with tax dollars.     Lower insulin costs means lower Medicare Part D funding from taxpayers.

What other 4th grade math can I help with today?

One more time.  No money is being saved.  They are just taking the savings to finance windmills

OK - so we've gone from you lying about the revenue impact and savings....to now you're just upset how the savings is being spent.   Progress?

Given the choice between artifically high drug prices vs lower drug prices with more investment in energy infrastructure and jobs  - Tom chooses the former.    Dandy !   And its a free country so Tom can have whatever batshit crazy opinion he wants.   And  who knows?  Maybe a future Republican president can use that savings to start another WMD hunt in Iraq.

But the fact remains -  President Biden cut drug prices so now Medicare costs taxpayers less money...and Republicans voted against that while trying to pretend to be good stewards of our tax dollars.

Thats a fact and Bitter Tom being  constipated about it doesnt change that fact.

Pj is using liberal math, which is different than real math. If you save $20 on Medicare drugs & spend it on windmills the net effect is zero, no savings.

Pj also assumes the govt can spend money efficiently which we know it doesn't.

pj also assumes the drug companies will go along, which they may not.

Tom, next time you go to buy a new car tell the dealer to name his own price and you'll pay it.  Cause its "liberal math" for you to use the money you save from a negotiated price to buy something else.

You'll make the dealer's day - and you'll feel really good about yourself too.

Oh - and I'll pass the word onto Canada the pharma companies might stop selling drugs there because they negotiate the price.     Nevermind they've already been selling them there since .... forever.

Holy shit.
