Teacher: memorize stuff, parrot it back to a bunch of kids, take the summer off, oh and bitch about working 7 hours a day. Gimme a break.

Only a very poorly educated person would think that that's what teachers do. But don't worry, Roger, Trump loves the uneducated.

According to govt stats, teachers work 6.5 hours ( including lunch & prep time) per day & 180 days for a total of 1,170 hours per year.  Other people work 8 hours & 235 days per year for 1,880 hours. Average teacher salary is $60k per year. That doesn't include stipends for coaching, supervising clubs & other duties. Teachers also get a pension & lifetime medical insurance. They also get generous sick time & depending on the union get paid for unused sick time when they retire.

Teachers like to pretend, but they have a great deal.

Stupid Tommie-poo, teachers aren't paid for the time they spend at home grading papers. They aren't paid for the time they spend at home, crafting detailed lesson plans--which are mandatory, by the way. They aren't paid for the time they spend in parent-teacher conferences, which happen outside of school hours.

Together, all those tasks consume 20-25 hours a week--for no additional pay. The "gov't stats" refer to time actually spent on school premises, which is only a portion of the actual total work hours.

Tommie-poo, you really shouldn't try to expound on subjects you know nothing about, especially with your already pitifully limited intellect. We teachers know that our efforts are often unappreciated and VERY often undervalued. You're just bleating your all-too-common ignorance when you say things like this.

America is an anti-intellectual nation, as shown by the actions of the great unwashed 75 million. Trump loves the uneducated, so naturally, Trumpers despise teachers. The more work we do, the fewer future Trumpers. And on some dim level of comprehension, the deplorables (which includes you, stupid Tommie-poo) know this.

Exactly wrong. But Roger, you're an ignorant fuck, and I'm sure your memories of your short time in school are unpleasant, so I do understand!

Everyone who isn't part of the 75 million not just believes it--they know it.

I'm not going to argue with someone who doesn't know jack shit about teaching. I'm not dense enough to tell, say, a farmer or an aircraft mechanic that his job is easy, because I don't know anything about those professions. But that doesn't stop Jerry from sharing his "expertise" with us, hyuk, hyuk!

I'm curious as to how you know what people in their right minds believe. Your constant diarrheal stream of Facebook posts suggests otherwise.

I am very familiar with the scam of "overworked" teachers.  My socialist sister is a teacher.  (When she retires she will be paid for 180 sick days which is 1 year's salary).  My son was a teacher until he got tired of the pc crap.  My wife is a teacher's asst.  In my officiating side gig, about 40% of the officials are teachers.  When we get off the field/gym at 7 pm or after we work all weekend they are not going home to grade papers.

Teachers get 1 class period (about 45 minutes) for lunch & a class period for prep/correcting papers/tests.  So much for the at home work.

Once a teacher completes a year in a grade, they only have to do minimal curriculum updates.  Multiple choice & T/F tests are corrected either electronically or with an answer sheet placed over the test. Grading one of those tests might take a minute.  It is not unusual to give the same tests year after year.  Again the work at home thing is a scam.  And remember they are not doing anything during their 14 weeks of vacation

Parent teacher conferences happen 2x a year.  Lot of work there.  In NY, individual parent/ teacher conferences must be held DURING the school day  & a sub or the teachers asst covers the class.  This is so the teacher can get to their side gig of coaching, clubs, tutoring & other after school activities.

As a side, back in 2020 when NYC schools were theoretically teaching via Zoom the NYC teacher who lives below me would go fishing
