Well, your stance becomes GIGO once you ask why someone should trust the CBO. Who else? Tucker Carlson? The tabloids? My favorite pundit, the Breakfast Bloviator at the local coffee shop?
I KNOW that mistrust of government is a standard conservative shibboleth, and of course it allows your gang to reflexively put down anything you don't like as "proof" of government incompetence/malfeasance/corruption. Makes you feel good and wise. I had hoped you were made of sterner stuff than to devolve to that knee-jerk reaction, though.
And a balanced budget, Charles, isn't even a desirable goal--not when the shortfall can be borrowed at one-seventh of inflation rates! Do you honestly not get that?
So, you do trust the CBO. Your prerogative. You routinely use derogatory comments about Carlson..you draw him like a gun when you need a conservative whipping post for your arguments ..as if he has more power than any other single force disaligned with your stances. Are you afraid of him and his extensive viewership, or what? Or are you just being a Good Samaritan and trying to save the poor misguided bastards that listen to him? You assign too much power to him..if he's so off the wall, wrong, and demonic why do you pay any attention to him? Why would you reference a guy that you'd never approve of..or is that the point, ultimately?
As far as government mistrust/ disapproval, I have a healthy version of that. In no way is it a knee-jerk reaction, either..felt that way since I filled out my first 1040 form several decades ago. I'm not in any far right faction in that regard, either. What's the estimate of the US voting public's approval rating for Congress..15 - 20%? Some of your D peers must harbor the same feelings, apparently. And if you're going to sit there and tell me that no corruption exists within our governmental system/s, then it's my contention that you haven't really delved into it much. The Founders fully addressed some of this very issue when crafting the Constitution...and that ultimately the government should be responsible to and for the governed, as simple and corny as that appears. They knew men / women would screw up when / if they acquired some forms of power. If you're a history buff as you claim, you'd be aware of those early philosophies.
And finally, I'll never agree with the incessant borrowing and/ or money printing practices our government now routinely employs. The necessity and propensity to do those things to keep the government functioning and 'open' is not restricted to your party..I admit that. It's easy to forget that our government reps are just humans ( though some of them may be bots, actually) and that they experience periodic or chronic bouts of greed, avarice, self-righteous selfishness, etc..mistakes exist to be made; the rest of us can just stand back and cast the first stones. It's a great country, again. Further, why isn't a balanced budget a desirable goal? With that statement, I consider myself fortunate that you don't oversee my finances.
I harbor no desire to move elsewhere whatsoever. In spite of all the conflicts, cornily and factually it's still the greatest country on Earth ( including Mars and the Sink). I'm not over all that apple pie stuff...I mean..we have football to distract us from all the realities.
