I'm not sure that has all that much to do with it. It drained only about a fifth of their available cash.
If they're honest with themselves, they'll acknowledge that they made all that money by lying, so when those lies wind up costing them money later on, they should consider that a cost of doing business.
I wonder how that precise figure was agreed upon. $787.5 million. Not $787 or $788 million.
