What it means is that now that Putin is puting Americans in prison for something minor, and he's pissed that we're helping Ukraine, Americans will think twice about visiting. Unbelievable how the Right is so upset that an American was freed from Russia. At least Biden didn't get a corpse back like TFG did with Otto Warmbier.

I wouldn't know about the right being upset. I'm not the least bit upset about Griner being released. I am upset that Griner put herself in that situation in the first place.

With the Ukrain situation, how many Americans are visiting Russia? How many of these visitors you reference will Putin have incarcerated for no legal reason? Griner did it to herself.

Do you really believe the drivel you just posted? How much loose contraband do you think is at the Russian airports? You honestly don't believe that Griner was at fault for her incarceration? She was the one that had the contraband, not the Russians. You can pretend to be outraged all you want. The truth is that Griner did it to herself. You evidently have the same problem with obeying the law as Griner does.

How many people (citizens or non citizens) do you think were incarcerrated in the entire nation of  Russia for possessiong CBD oil prior to her arrest.     I'd be willing to bet ZERO.

I'm not going to try to convince you that a nine-year sentence for possession of less than a gram of CBD oil is excessive. If you're so much of a Putinite as to believe that what happened to Griner was just...well, I can't make you a better person.

Of course, the fact that she's a woman, and gay, probably has a lot to do with your irrational hatred of her and your gleeful dancing and jacking off when she was arrested.

That is kind of funny actually, I must admit.  

Griner was caught with hash / CBD oil in her luggage and was discovered by Russian security. She made the mistake ( whether due to inadequate planning, not checking her contents prior to travel, or actually brought it in intentionally); and Russian laws are their laws despite what we're accustomed to in the US. Maybe the most egregious injustice in this entire scenario was the overkill sentencing she received following conviction. Perhaps another huge injustice is how Putin ( and / or his cronies) essentially used her and her minimal crime as public hostages / the bait for negotiating the swap of a real dirty dog Russian criminal. Russia surely milked her relatively small mistake. Again, we got shortchanged in the negotiations swap, imo. Despite all those pig trails, I'm glad an American is home and out of that Russian pigsty.

Whelan? Who knows? His ex-US Marine status ( and all the potential political influences that fact might entail on both the Russian and American sides) could render him as stuck in Russia..for a long time..with the espionage charges he was convicted with ( 25 years, I think it was). We'll see.

Russia, like all dictatorships, has no laws. It has only the whim of Putin.

I see you're going to your usual deflection to my statement and not answering my post. Nobody brought up the severity of the sentence until you just did. I do believe that it was more than excessive. That doesn't absolve her for putting herself in a position to be arrested and prosecuted in a Russian court.

As usual, you're the only one bringing her sexuality into the discussion. You have to point out that she's a gay woman for what reason?
