California - They Love Their Ignorance

I'd be surprised if more than a small percentage of the governors of any state were or had been born there. After all, it's American politics; getting elected to high office depends much more on money and good old-fashioned grift than on cleaving to the state's citizens.

I thought Arnold was born in Austria.

That's right, BlackJack.......I glossed over him, knowing he wasn't born in California.

So Hilton would be the third European born Governer if he wins.

Probably true for many of the Western ones, but pretty sure you have a good percentage of Governors from the first 13 states, especially Virginia, Massachusetts, etc.  that were born in those states.  

I don't know how to find that out for certain, but I'd suspect that was only true during the 19th century. In any case, for California's first 50 years or so, almost no one who was born there would have been old enough to run for governor, and afterward, massive immigration meant that only about 1 in 5 residents were native Californians, right up until the end of WWII. And I don't recall anyone running for governor there who campaigned on being a native Californian and thus being supposedly simpatico with the state.

I wonder if that even matters to anyone any more, that a Congressional or senatorial candidate was or wasn't born in their state. 

For me personally, I don't think it would matter much to me whether they were born in the State. It might matter to me how much time they've spent living in the State in the previous 20ish years or so. But even that probably wouldn't be very high on my list of things to consider

I'd be much more interested in whether they understood the issues that are important to the state's residents. Like health care in Arizona, environmental stewardship in Washington, the availability of public spittoons in Arkansas, that sort of thing. I'd also like them to explain why they want to be the governor of my state as opposed to the governor of some other state. OR...if they don't care, as long as they get to be governor somewhere (that would be an unexpectedly honest admission!).

But I do think that whether they "get you" is kind of low on the list of desirable traits for Democratic voters. That crapola sells much better in Republican states. After all, they've managed to convince voters there that Trump--of all people--understands the concerns and travails of the average Joe. Astonishing, when you think about it, that a wealthy con man and thief can convince everyone that he knows what it's like to not be able to afford food.

Public spittoons in Arkansas? Why do you feel the need to make such derogatory statements about entire states? Your buddy Miller has it out for California and New York and you have it out for West Virginia and other places. Could it be you are really the same person? You do the same thing as him, just different states and groups of people. Really a shame because you have so much to offer then blow with stupid ass comments like this.

I have no respect for any person, town, county, city, or state that has voted for Trump three times. I'm not making any derogatory statements about them; they're making their own self-derogatory statements by voting for a rapist, con man, thief, murderer, and liar.

Miller attacking California because he's imitating his orange master is something different than what I do. You might note that he has to make shit up about the state, using and posting stale feces from the internet. I don't need to make anything up about the deep-red goober states. Their stupidity, gullibility, and lack of judgment and character are shown every time they cast ballots for one of the worst people to ever walk the earth--not to mention also voting for his lickspittle lackeys. Also...they're poverty-stricken, bigoted, racist, and brutally mismanaged. Red states are trash heaps.

Miller criticizes California, the most beautiful and prosperous state in the Union. I criticize states that are its polar opposite, and the idiot inbred fools who have made them that way.

I don't think it is fair or wise to judge an entire population of a State because of the actions of roughly 60% of the voters.
