Fun Fact of the Day:
There have only been 6 Governors of California actually born in the state. Pacheco was the first one, and the only time there were two consecutive Governors that were born in Cali were the last two, Brown and Newsom.
If Becerra wins that would make three straight Governors born in California. If Hilton wins, he would be the second European born California Governor. John Downey (1860-1862), the Governor before Leland Stanford, was born in Ireland.
I'd be surprised if more than a small percentage of the governors of any state were or had been born there. After all, it's American politics; getting elected to high office depends much more on money and good old-fashioned grift than on cleaving to the state's citizens.
