California - They Love Their Ignorance

Obviously, there are good, decent people in Arkansas, West Virginia, etc. At least six in each state. Just like we have MAGA assholes in Portland, as nice and as sensible as the city is. So of course, I was making a generalization. But consider that Miller blanket-criticizes California, which has more Republipig voters than all but a few states.

To return to what I was talking about, the governor of a state should be attuned to the issues that matter to its voters, and whether that turns out to be the case isn't dependent on the governor's origins. Anyone running for governor, in any state, should be an expert on the issues that matter most to the state's constituency.

Well if that's the person you want to emulate or be inspired by then I guess that is a choice you can make. haha

I completely agree with you on your point that what is important in a potential governor is how they will represent the people of the state. 

That's more or less what I was getting at when I said it wouldn't matter much to me if they were born there or not. 

I don't really care either.....I just stated it as a fun fact.   And interestingly, it garnered more productive dialogue than Miller's initial post.  Be well everyone. 

NC-, this is Kevin yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  He is pejorative to the nth degree.  With all of his waving about against racism, look at the Southern cultures and institutions he insults flagrantly, promoting stereotypical characterizations of Southerners as dirty and uneducated.  I doubt he has any real connection or experience with the Southern hospitality of North Carolina, or anywhere, even the deep south.  His generalizations, usually negative, become quite tiresome.  I've called him on it, but it doesn't end.

All they have to do is stop voting for Trump, and I would forgive them. But as long as they remain MAGA, they're continuing to be stupid, unsophisticated, naive, evil, and yes, grossly racist. And their holy rollers facade is laughable, considering how many fundamental principles of Christianity Trump violates, while they stand up and cheer.

My experience in the Deep South is limited, but it's been enough to see that the place is backwards, dirty, and ignorant. That's because they CHOOSE to be that way. So I have no respect for them.

Should I care? Largely, I don't. But the awful decisions they've made, such as fervently licking Trump like hyperactive dogs, have negatively affected all of our lives. Stupidity is one thing. Stupidity that causes suffering is another.

Oh, and I have experienced Southern hospitality, and it's genuine. But then, I'm not black. I have black friends who have experienced Southern hostility.

Usually, as overt racism is now mildly frowned upon, my friends (who travel to Louisiana and Florida quite often, to visit relatives) experience thousands of microaggressions. Nothing blatant, just constant reminders that they are considered second-class citizens at best and subhumans at worst.

So I have my reasons to loathe the South, and those reasons are based on experience and observation, not stereotypes.

And there is absolutely no proof of this nonsense...but let's say it really happens. Even so, the ballots wouldn't be counted, because they wouldn't bear the signature of a registered voter.
