Coup, Coup, Coup

The FBI found no conspiracy. The democrats lynching committee has also found no conspiracy. They are throwing hail Mary's in the hope Trump doesn't run again. 

I suppose if you're a devoted Trump-licking conservitard, any attempt to discover the truth about the RepubliQ's murderous insurrection could be called a "lynching." If you're a devoted Trump-licking conservitard, that is. Of course, the difference between the current ongoing investigation and an actual lynching, or between that investigation and the insurrection, is that no one is being violently murdered.

The Democrat response to losing an election is to try to win the next one. The RepubliQ response to losing an election is to try to kill those who are responsible for certifying the results. Tommie-poo should be so proud that he supports Trump and the murderous RepubliQ!

Tommie-poo evidently doesn't realize that Democrats are praying that Trump runs again. That might be the only way the RepubliQ can lose in 2024! Why do I say that? Millions of ballots had Republican down-ballot candidates selected but Biden selected for President. That suggests that quite a few Republicans simply couldn't stand Trump. And the RepubliQ want to repeat that? Bring it on! Please!

Be careful what you wish for Kevin, with the redistricting of congressional districts,  new voting laws that favor Republicans and right leaning officials being put in election oversight positions.  It's very possible Trump could win in 2024.  The far right came close to accomplishing that in 2020.  Thank God, there was enough people in positions of power that followed the Constitution and did the correct thing.  

The GOP is stuck between a hard place and a rock.  They have two choices, support Trump to keep his Base from leaving or disengage from Trump and lose the Base.  They are playing the odds.  They cannot win if the Base quits.  To have any chance of winning they have to keep the Base happy.  It's about self preservation. There are cracks in the pillars of support for Trump though.

If the Jan 6 committee can get the truth out before the midterms, it will be curtains for the Republicans.

I don't think that whatever the Jan 6 committee is able to find will make much of a difference. 99.9% of the electorate knows the basic truth about the insurrection, included who fomented and encouraged it. They also know that the RepubliQ party supported and continues to support it. Additional sordid details coming to light won't change those perceptions--nor will they change the minds of RepubliQ voters who have, apparently, vowed to support their party no matter how traitorous, antidemocratic, and heinous its actions become.

I've asked myself why that is. Do 75 million Americans have no moral center at all? The answer is: well, fuck, no. And with the bizarre way our system is set up, 40 percent of the electorate can dominate the other 60 percent.

There's something else I've read about. Conservatism, by definition, is based on fear. And perhaps the most prominent fear trumpeted by the RepubliQ is that nonwhites will "take over." So efforts to stave that off, such as keeping those "inferiors" from voting, carry a lot of currency with the 75 million. The fact that such efforts are evil and unfair matters not at all--not to them, anyway.

All that said, I still want Trump to run in 2024. I'm sure that virtually all of the Republicans (as opposed to RepubliQ) who didn't vote for him, due to utter revulsion, would happily vote for one of the evil scumbags, such as Abbott or DeSantis, who want to be the Orange Pusbag's heir apparent. Trump is the only candidate who nauseates enough people that he would lose votes from his own party. If the RepubliQ dangle Trump II or Trump Lite in front of those people, they'll happily jump on board.

Ideal scenario: Trump loses the 2024 nomination and decides to form a third party ("The Orange Con"). He drags away 4 or 5 percent of the vote from the RepubliQ candidate and hands the victory to Bruce Springsteen on a silver platter.

And yes, you heard that right, he's going to be the candidate. You heard it here first :)

A decade or so ago, Lisa Simpson predicted Trump would be a future president, so Bruce Springsteen it is.  

A self described moderate, registered Democrat, myself.  Not a big fan of Biden or Harris, it's early yet, I could see casting a vote for Amy Kloburchar, or John Kasick and if she can bring the GOP back to reality,

Liz Cheney.    She very well could demolish the Trumpers in Congress.  Carrying water for Trump could be hazardous to your Political health.  "The Boss", is my next choice.

That is my intro to a straw poll,  Any one else want to put in their picks.

I think the RepubliQ will crucify Cheney if it even sort of looks like she's a threat. Look how they went after the few sane Republicans who voted to impeach or to certify the election results. Also, look at how they've been practically rupturing themselves trying to strip her of power and influence.

Also, don't forget that Springsteen said long ago that he was "Born to Run."

Rather than wonder who the Republicans will nominate; the democrats should be concerned about the current  president who can't even stay awake, or a giggling vp The current media darling is buttieg who is a part timer.

They should be concerned about high inflation, the crime wave, record setting illegals, record high deficits, supply chain shortages, the disaster in Afghanistan (hundreds of Americans are still trapped), Russia & China
