Darwin, again

Actually, Charles, malaria is a protozoan, a single-celled organism. Medicines designed to kill single-celled organisms don't work as antiviral agents.

I incorrectly identified malaria as a bacterium rather than a protozoan. However, my point still stands, that it is entirely different from a virus and anything that kills the former may have no effect whatsoever on the latter.

Now put down your Trumper slingshot.

See Kevin, there is tremendous irony in your previous post where you claimed Malaria is a 'bacterium' and 'Medications or other substances that kill bacteria are ineffective against viruses'.  And then went on to claim that is 'pretty basic medical science'.  If it's so basic, how did you get it so wrong?

I rightly pointed out that Malaria is in fact a parasite, not a bacteria or a virus and now you think you are correcting me by claiming it's a 'protozoan'.  It's clear that you often just don't know what you're talking about and your hatred for President Trump and his supporters is biasing most every thought you post here...maybe every thought you have.  I suggest you take a step back and evaluate your life and behavior as it's not healthy to view everything through your lens of hatred.

But, to finish this thought, you further claimed: "Medications or other substances that kill bacteria are ineffective against viruses."  Now you've backpedaled to state "anything that kills the former may have no effect whatsoever on the latter".  That's quite a change because I caught you just making up your false statements.

I also posted a link to an early lab based analysis that shows Chloroquine was effective against a normally fatal dose of a corona variant in lab mice.  Chloroquine is also used to treat lupus and rheumatoid arthritis which are autoimmune diseases.  Perhaps you can explain to your audience how it's possible for a medication to treat both a parasitic disease and autoimmune diseases and then explain why it can't work against certain viruses.

Most of us simply have hope that this or other drugs will help ease the suffering from Covid19.  Admit it.  You've convinced yourself that it could not possibly help because you hate the President.  I hope you really think about that because admitting your problem is the first step to recovery.

I admit to know very little about the science of medicine.

All One Needs to Know About Medicine

Anyone who is really interested in the science behind speculation that Chloroquine is a promising treatment for Covid-19 can review this 2003 paper in The Lancet titled:  "Effects of chloroquine on viral infections: an old drug against today's diseases."

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(03)00806-5/fulltext

The peer reviewed paper concludes:  "Finally, we want to share with the scientific community the speculative hypothesis that chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine, due to its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties, may have some effect on SARS. We emphasise the need of testing in cell cultures infected with SARS coronavirus the effects of chloroquine, as well as those ofother substances possessing in-vitro activity against members of the coronaviridae family. We should remember that the possibility of new outbreaks of SARS cannot be excluded. In the absence of effective inhibitors of SARS coronavirus, the possibility of an inhibition, at least in vitro, of the replication of this virus would represent a breakthrough in the knowledge of SARS."

It may not work at all against Covid-19 and there have been no clinical trials.  But it is promising and we can all hope.  Except Kevin.  He already knows the results because 'Orange Man Bad'.

Charles, for someone who claims to know so much about medicine and biology, you don't seem to know that "parasite" isn't a type of organism. It's a type of function of any one of a number of different types of organisms.

To illustrate: "deer" is a type of organism. "Herbivore" is one of its functions.

Malaria is caused by a protozoan that acts as a parasite.

I'm so glad to be able to educate you!

Oh great.  The guy who thought Malaria is a bacteria is now 'educating' me, claiming I'm wrong to state that Malaria is a parasite.  Malaria is a parasitic disease.  Just as Covid-19 is a viral disease and diaper rash is a bacterial disease.   There's something very wrong with you, dude.  You are a narcissist with TDS.  That's not a good combination.  Just look at the last 100 threads here and how many you have had to get the last word on.  How sad for you to be so obsessed that you're spending your Trump deranged life convincing people on the Las Vegas Advisor how smart you are.  Good luck with that.

You're 1000 percent right about everything you say; you're a stable genius whose truth-telling powers are eclipsed only by Bigly President Donald J. Trump.

Happy now?

In other words, you and Charles are parasites because you are both getting $1200 in Donny Dollars without giving a useful or proper return.
