Darwin on a statewide level

In 09 the CDC was able to produce tests. For the Chinese virus the CDC tests failed.

Tests were produced in significant numbers privately only after a significant delay by the CDC.  The failure of the CDC is not President Trumps fault.

In 09 the CDC produced only 1m tests, but over 20m were infected.

Obama did not declare a national emergency until October, 6 months after the cases started to appear & only after several thousand Americans died & millions were infected.

A failure of leadership.

Whatever Obama did or didn't do has no bearing on Trump's failures now.

And the term "Chinese virus," even though Trump loves to use it, is racist and inaccurate.

Are you a Trump-loving, inaccurate racist, Tom?

Not quite.

April 17, 2009: The first human infection of H1N1, and the second in the world, was detected.

April 22: The CDC activates its Emergency Operations Center.

April 26: The administration declares the virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

Honesty matters.

Poor old DonDiego agrees the virus could given a better name, although he has no significant objection to including an accurate location of the origin of the pathogen within the name - for historical purposes.

How about: "The Wuhan Institute Virus" ?

Sorry, Don. Tinfoil hats are on backorder.

A worldwide deadly pandemic virus that originated in China is aptly and correctly named "China virus".

Here's what the racists don't understand. THE VIRUS ALMOST CERTAINLY DID NOT ORIGINATE IN CHINA.

The coronavirus originated in animals. Those animals were not "Chinese." And the coronavirus has been present in one form or another for at least hundreds, and probably thousands of years.

The most likely animal origin is bats. There is no such thing as a "Chinese" bat. Animals do not share human nationality, race, or culture.

And neither do viruses.

Mp is wrong. Obama did not declare a national emergency until 10/24.

Facts matter.

As usual when the facts don't match Kevin's narratives, he says they don't count.

The biggest problem was that the CDC tests didn't work & they delayed allowing outside tests.

I did not say the "animals" were Chinese. I said the virus that the whole world is dealing with came from China, therefore, China virus.

Then I'm sure that DonDiego would raise no objections to the Spanish flu of 1918 being more accurately named the "American flu." He might enjoy researching this, if he can find an unbiased source.

In any event, the coronavirus has an animal origin, most likely bats, and I am unaware of any bats being or having been Chinese citizens, ethnically Chinese, or agents of the Chinese government.
